Suction mount on window. Best place?

The roadhawk is slimmer than mine, though i don't think mine is that big really. It's the mount that makes it more awkward. I haven't actually tried it behind the mirror, mainly because i'm not sure what to do with the wire apart from hook it over the sun visor but then it will just hang down in the corner, i'm assuming partly over the edge of the windscreen. I will try that tomorrow and see how that works. I don't want the wire permanently fixed inside the car.
My mot guy removes my airfreshner as well before the mot and then just puts it back again straight after

Is there a reason for wanting a camera in the car?
Dogging perhaps?0 -
Definitely not :rotfl:
Was recently involved in an accident where she's disputing what happened, or rather lying about what happened and it looks like it will go 50/50 even though she was 100% to blame. The camera is to make sure liars like her don't get away with it in future.
It won't save me in all scenarios but it will defo help in most.0 -
All (3) of my in car cameras came with the rubbishy huge suction mounts that you use to stick a sat nav or mobile phone onto the windscreen. The suctions mounts are bigger than the in car cameras!
I used this on the biggest in car camera (even though I don't have a Roadhawk:

And on the two smaller in car cameras I, er, popped into the DartTag Office at Dartford to claim two free sticky DartTag mounts that I adapted.

"Legally" you cant attach it anywhere on the windscreen - but that doesn't stop me mounting my sat nav on my screen, and each MOT they take it off, and I put it back on againWhen will the "Edit" and "Quote" button get fixed on the mobile web interface?0 -

I thought it was only in Canada that it was illegal to mount satnavs etc to the windscreen. Can you point me to the relevant UK law please?0 -

Nope - but 10 different garages have not taken my Sat Nav mount off the windscreen on 10 different MOTs for any other reason than it being against the law
Common sense dictates to it being against the law
Unless you can think of another reason?

So are you saying that millions of drivers in the UK are using their satnavs against the law? What fine would they be risking? I have never heard of anyone being prosecuted.0 -
My phone mount is at the bottom/centre of the windscreen. It obscures my view of... the bonnet.
For a camera though I agree with mounting it behind the rear view mirror. You may have to tuck the power cable into the gap between the windscreen and headlining, and this may also require getting a longer cable, but it should result in a neat install.0
