posting a new thread!!!!!!

has anybody else faced the same difficulties i had in trying to find how to post a new thread?
it is far from obvious and there are no simple guidelines on the main pages i tried everything for over 30 mins and finally chanced on a page with an icon for posting a new thread.
when i tried the mse team contact it was utterly useless - typical of a lot of commercial complaints departments who try to make it complicated or impossible to contact them with a question that does not fit their classifications. i had to have a 'ticket no' from an 'attempts route' none of which fitted the simple question of 'where the hell do i post a thread?
mse forum team - you are no doubt very intelligent but like too many 'geeks' you only operate at the higher levels and forget the simple questions people need answering. look at you pages and try to see it from the point of view of someone new to your world - don't assume we all understand the way you all think.

Hi walfy
This question does come up a lot so we're aware it's not obvious and have been working on a forum introduction guide to help people with this and other questions.
Meanwhile, we have a note in our forum team's auto-reply explaining how to post.
For anyone reading this who doesn't know - click on the forum section (board) you want to ask your question on, then on the "new thread" button in the top left of that board.

Welcome to the MSE forum and well done for posting in the correct board.:)
Starting a new thread and posting in an existing thread is easy when you know how.................but I was a new member once and I struggled just the same as you have.;)
Each board has one or more board guides and they are listed at the bottom of each board. If you need help with anything else, just click on the board guide's name and send him/her a private message.
I have made a suggestion (to the MSE team) that we could have a board titled:
Help for members new and old
or
How to get started Q&A, helpful tips for posting in the forum
There is a sticky thread on this board with lots of helpful tips and useful information, here is a link to it:
Unofficial A-Z
I recommend you have a look at it.
