Bad TV reception - signal too strong?

First problem is have you got a strong signal or weak if you can see the transmitter you are close. how many miles? If it is so strong you should be able to pick up something with a coat hanger!! :rotfl: . Has the problem just appeared or has it been like that? Is it on some channels or all of them? If you want weaken your signal the qucik way to do it is pull the aerial out and hold a couple of mm away from aerial socket. If that cures it then open the aerial plug and wrap a couple of strands of the outer braid into the centre core of the cable, that should weaken the signal not ideal but will work. Other things you need to look at are sky boxes, videos are they in the chain of the tv try aerial direct into tv.

If you really think the signal is too strong, buy the 12dB attenuator, or (the MSE method) try swinging your aerial around 180 degrees. The usual type TV antenna has a big blind spot at the back, so the signal will get weaker as you turn away from the boresight (pointing straight at the transmitter).
