  • Well the pigsty situation is a little improved, and I've got my winter clothes out - the bad news is I haven't put the summer ones away as there are somehow more than will fit in the box :o so will try doing some more sorting tomorrow night.

I've also managed to go out for drinks with friends, although that turned out to 4 hours not the 2 I was expecting so I haven't done my homework for training course tomorrow! Fortunately it's in town so I think I will read through tonight and get up early tomorrow for another look if necessary.

No planner yet :( but it is supposed to turn up in November so am eagerly scanning my inbox for dispatch email!

Budget is doing OK - I bought some clothes on the weekend that I'm not sure about and will probably take back, and it does look like I need to get new winter boots.

  • Pigsty situation slightly improved - I've caught up with laundry and reminded the landlord about the things he needs to do.

I am also up to date on YNAB and that's where the good news ends! I've had my little new-job-and-paycheque spree, but now I want to get myself back to :money:ways and ensure that my money is doing what's best for ME in all ways :D.

I realised in the process of tidying that I feel much better when I'm organised and I do prefer to have time to cook. So I will continue decluttering - it's going OK just need some time on the weekend for winter clothes - and I'm trying to get myself organised both at work so I know where I am when, and with home. I'm going to go back to the FlyLady system and deep-clean one section of the flat a week, that should be doable.

Moneywise I'm going to leave myself some free money in the budget for December - the CC will be cleared again this month so only the 0% card to clear in January, and then college fees at end of Jan/ start of Feb but they should be doable in one paycheque as there will hopefully be nothing else to clear by then :). After that my paycheque will be my own and I will... guess what... be DF to the banks! I still have the car loan from family to repay and will decide nearer the time whether to get it gone or split paying it off with building up savings.

I'm hoping in the spring I will be able to start SAVING - how exciting is that!:j:j

  • *dashes in waving arms and burbling*

Would just like to report a mini LBM... reading the advance check version of the MSE email, spotted the £35 cashback if you take up a 32 month 0% card... then realised I can't apply because I don't have £1,500 of debt left to transfer

    :T:j:T

(and yes, I have considered spending, but there's nothing I want right now so have decided against it! Change is possible! :rotfl:)

  • Transfers all set up and bills sorted :T

I keep changing my mind about what to do with December money and switching it about on YNAB. At present I've pushed as much as possible of December's paycheque through to January. At the minute my rent falls just after payday, so that's the only thing that has to come out the same month, and in the longer term that could change too :D as I get a buffer fund sorted. But this leaves December looking a bit short and of course it has some extra costs so I may need to pull some money back to cover the last week.

Pigsty control is progressing. Today I have...

    Organising things
    • Raided Sainsbugs for all the things I can't get anywhere else, and bought double of them so I don't have to go as often.
    • Bought emergency gf ready meals to keep at work - they are cheaper than sushi or salad if I pop out at lunchtime and mean less temptation to buy other things.
    • Filled the car with petrol
    • Finished the ironing. The laundry situation is now under control and hopefully I can get back to a white and a colour wash early in the week, so that there are only two days of having the place filled with drying racks.
    • Cooked properly
    • Shifted the fleabay-next-spring clothes to go into storage with the other summer clothes. This frees up space for me to put out tomorrow's clothes in advance. (A FlyLady trick. I don't organise a whole outfit, I just hang up the dress as my wardrobe is pretty organised these days so the shoes etc are right there.)
    • Emailed landlord about sorting some things later this week, which will free up space for me to use better.

    :money:things
    • I've rather overspent on groceries this month :o but the freezer and cupboards are now full again and I know I can cook something decent from scratch, which will hopefully cut down on other spends. I have rather given up on fresh green veg as so much of it was going in the recycling :o so have bought frozen greens instead.
    • Bought Dime bar cake which is much cheaper than good chocolate :D
    • Put the heaters on automatic timer so that they will go off at bedtime. I was putting them on when I came in which is daft because I was cold until they warmed up and then I was forgetting to switch them off last thing and they were running all night - not sensible.
    • Remembered that I am out of the office at least half of tomorrow and can therefore pick up something on expenses for lunch.
