Deep breath. Biiiig, deeeep breath.
Off to travel to interview tomorrow and wondering what possessed me to apply for a job that pays less than my current one and wouldn't really add to my skills. Except that it's somewhere very beautiful and only 4 days a week so I could have time to study. And it's near friends.
Well, we'll see. Even if they offer it to me, I don't have to take it if I don't want it... so the worst that could happen is I pay for a flight to explore the town and have a night out with my friend :rotfl:
Wish me luck and will update on Thursday

Best of luck with the interview. Good that you are seeing all the positives to it and if you didn't go for it you'll always end up wondering.
And well done for not upping your bid on the dress (it probably means that a more perfect dress is waiting for you)

I now earn less than I used to pay in tax. But I also only 2.5 days for someone else - the rest of the time I work for myself. I laugh *lots* (mostly at myself). For the first time in my life, I have time to watch the sunrise and appreciate the stars. None of which were possible when I was driven purely to pay off debt and get promoted regularly. Sometimes our hearts know the right thing to do before our heads clue in. Hope you got the job.xx0 -
Hello lovely people and thank you for wishing me luck :A
Well I think I was quite right to go and I had a wonderful time with my friend... but I didn't go to the interview after all:rotfl:. Having talked to local estate agents and thought about it I realised that it just wasn't quite right - it didn't leave me enough leeway to keep seeing old friends while I settled in, and it didn't take me in a useful long term direction. I felt I would end up frustrated and looking for another job right away.
So I did lots of thinking, had some rather useful ideas, and withdrew from the interview. I still want to move to that area but now have a much better plan of what I want overall and am working on some ideas on how to achieve it as well as some fun side projects with my friend. So all is good :T and the right job will surely turn up soon.

Yes, absolutely. Having remembered that I don't actually want the next promotion in the office job that was only ever meant to pay for something else, it's time to go back to Plan A.

Well I have now been very brave and faced up to my receipts pile. As I now won't get the travel reimbursed (and I knew that when I made the decision) it's perhaps not surprising that I am about £500 over budget :eek: _pale_. However, that will be at least half covered by not cutting my pay for another month and although this probably isn't the place to say it, it seems a small price to pay for having got clarity on what I want to do.
I'm still hoping there will be overtime coming in my paycheque in the next few days, but will have to see. However, it's all doable now that the Last Card is on its way out.

Sometimes we need to almost go through with something to make us realise what it is we really want.
You'll have no trouble sorting out the £500 overspendand it wasn't all wasted - you had a great time with your friend.

Thank you again wise and lovely people :A
Well it hasn't been quite an NSD as I had to pick up household bits at lunchtime, but I managed not to succumb to a takeaway this evening despite having enough in cash (which avoids the guilt factor of having to type it into YNAB :rotfl:). So have cooked instead and have enough for tomorrow's lunch plus another meal too.
I've also uploaded my final broadband bill from the old supplier, so will hopefully get credit back for that soon. And put in my electricity meter readings - 0v0 are very helpful at offering to adjust my direct debit which I do appreciate but having put it up last month they now say I can put it down again... what did you expect in winter... sigh. I will leave it for now as the direct debit is due out shortly, and adjust it back once that's gone. Can't think of anything else to chase up money-wise, none of the cashback is confirmed yet and my YNAB is all up to date. Just waiting for payday now
I have another potential job to apply for this week, and have arranged to have a chat with the department tomorrow, so let's see how that goes. I also got onto something that's been bugging me at work today and will get that underway so I can get it off my list... it means dealing with silly people who say 'but I thought this was going to be done in January' having refused to answer their phone or email for a fortnight , but hopefully I will be able to get it sorted and handed over fairly soon. I've also got a few more career-tracking bits and pieces I should focus on in the next couple of weeks just so that it's all tidied up ready to move if I want.
And it's a nice peaceful evening here in Rosa land... just going to wash up and then curl up under the duvet with a book. The moggies have decided it's clearly too cold and wet outside and have been purring on the bed for a couple of hours already

*happy sigh* That's such a lovely end to your post.
To continue the theme, I'm baking bread to go with soup for lunch, and I'm about to settle down to spend the day glass painting. There was also a cat for about 5 minutes, as next door's lion-sized effort shot in when I opened the door and made a beeline straight for the blanket on my sofa! But I've chucked him back in the direction of his cat flap.
