It's not very impressive is it? Though I had already been thinking that if I do need to sort out tax stuff then maybe I should look at something that would do more reports.

If you're doing tax, you want proper accounting, rather than budgeting.

Just don't forget to budget for additional heating and electricity.

I brought the little heater I used to have in the flat down from the loft - the room is tiny, so hoping that with the door nearly closed (allowing movement of moggies), a hoodie (except if anyone really insists of videoconf) and that on thermostat it should avoid much extra. It's technically an informal arrangement, so I can't claim from work - but so sanity saving I think it will be worth every penny.

Yes, maybe. I have an appointment booked with a financial planner in a few weeks, so will think about it all more over the new year.

  • So after the scary catch up with all my accounts yesterday, I did my usual cheat-YNAB and entered the upcoming expense payments and next paycheque as cleared, so it will let me plan next month without heart failure. Then looked back at it today and realised that while I had put all my expense payments and refunds back to the right categories, I hadn't altered the amounts budgeted... so I have £200-odd more than I thought yesterday :rotfl::j

Set up switch for the new M&5 account, which should net me a £125 voucher that will mean healthy posh lunches for free for a month :T. Also finally got hold of someone on the phone about my B account... but it turns out that to get the £250 bonus that needs a full switch too, not just 2 direct debits. Not sure what to do here as I'm a bit reluctant to close my 'main' account that I've had for ages, but also wanted to keep the Co-0p one as being more ethical. May have to try and find out which banks are ethically better and decide from there. The process is so much simpler than it used to be that it shouldn't be such a drama if I do give up the account I've had for a scary number of years

I think it's probably a pretty well paid Sunday really :rotfl:

Watch your hands. They go cold easily and their functionality are affected the most.

Usually everything else is just discomfort.

  • It is great that you will have Fridays WFH. My WFH days are the key to my sanity (such that it is :)) They make such a difference. In the Winter I too use small heater in the room I work in but I also wear fingerless gloves and a scarf indoors! I have a hot water bottle at my back too. I consider it worth it. In fact I prefer it to an overheated, air conditioned office.

Sounds like things are coming together for you. :)

I'm a bit dubious about the CoOp being ethical. Unless you consider keeping rent-boys off the street and in the pharmaceutical style to which they've become accustomed as ethical.

Or perhaps I'm just being picky...

No, you may be right as I think with banks it's a case of less evil rather than actually ethical.

So far I have discovered that the Ethical Consumer rankings haven't been updated since Jun 16 - which isn't very helpful as the I think the Co-op was only sold this year.

Thanks EH I will bear that in mind :D

I had an account with them a couple of years ago - whatever it was that helped with first time buying - but their website drove me nuts so I switched away a while ago. Probably for whatever the last switch benefit was :D:rotfl:
