  • Sounds like a productive weekend Rosa. I might admit that I love sorting my paperwork. My mum finds it hilarious if she asks what I've been up to and I say sorting my paperwork. I do seem to to it a lot lol.

  • Not all that productive as I'm afraid I've done none of them :o :rotfl: I have done some other jobs though including a couple of yuk cleaning things.

I found I really needed some down time, so I have slept a lot, watched a couple of movies and also cooked properly on Saturday. Today I went into town and treated myself to lunch out as I still had some money in that budget line from last month. Was a little taken aback to find I literally only bought the stuff I went into town for despite a wander round the shops as I couldn't find anything I wanted. I have got much better at staying out of town as I get more organised, and I intend for things to stay that way.

I have sorted out YNAB, including going through my PayP4l account, and that's all now straightened out and up to date. I am ignoring the extra £100 that seems to have appeared in this month's budget as its freaking me out :rotfl:. If it's still there in another week or so I will add it to a savings line. Age of Money currently stands at 39 days, which I think is something of a record. Budget for this month is set and I have no major expenses - a new work event but that's already paid for and sorted.

I've also done my ShopNScan transmission, but can't seem to get into the rewards account, so must try and sort that later in the week.

So all looking under control at the moment, just plodding on :)

"Age of Money" - love it. Makes it sound like a new epoch, like a Iron Age. But I suppose it is - the post-plastic age.

    Perhaps a new golden age?

That's what you want. The old Chinese curse about interesting times, is after all, a curse...

  • It certainly feels like a new era. Hopefully a new golden age in Rosa land :)

  • Paperwork files now put away. I haven't filed the stuff that needs to go in them, but I figure that comes under maintenance and the main point was to get them out of sight, so I'm still claiming job done. I've decluttered a couple of throws in the process as they were joyless and taking up room in the cupboard.

Other paperwork type things are now neatly shelved together ready for a Return to FlyLady moment. The garden tidying will happen some evening soon.

Only other point of interest today is a :money: hurrah for Wa1trose, they gave me a double refund on a problem item without even asking for the receipt.

  • I was so efficient yesterday... I managed to get petrol, go to the car wash, sort some of the garden, wash my hair, put a wash in the machine and make some stuff for lunches in the rest of the week.

The garden is going to take longer than I thought as I've realised it needs more decluttering than at first sight. I have collected more and more pots etc over the time I've been here and now have more than can sensibly be fitted in. I also kept a lot of things from when I had the allotment here because I still want a proper garden when I do move. So I need go through all this and reconsider what's worth keeping and what I should just ditch. This can happen bit by bit - it already looks a whole lot better than it did.

I'm WFH this morning so enjoying the company of happy moggies as well as the quiet. And have managed to sort another load of washing and my ShopNSc4n rewards login so getting stuff done there too :D

Sometimes I think part of the value of FlyLady is just teaching us to recognise the amount of life admin that needs doing in order for things to run smoothly... sigh....

  • Dashing in for a keep-on-track Sunday update.

The scary amount of spare money in YNAB has been solved as it hadn't caught up with paying off the credit card this month. I still don't quite understand how they calculate this :o as it was all covered in the budget so I guess I need to re-read the guide. I did watch one of the recent YNAB Wednesday videos on cutting down the time spent budgeting and have now added goals to most of my categories. This is helpful as it will enable me to allocate more easily and should eventually mean I can use the automatic allocation functions.

I went to a seminar today in my new work field and although I didn't learn as much as I'd hoped, I did get to see some friends and thank my tutors. I was also offered some potential work in the longer term which I can't take on now, but it was a lovely boost to be asked. It's all given me more to think about for where I might want to be a few years on.

Budget otherwise running OK... and it's now less than two weeks to payday. I feel like the months are getting shorter and I'm not sure if that's because I'm worrying less about the money, focusing on more fun stuff or just getting old :rotfl:

  • I too feel like the months are getting shorter. I think mine is because I get paid four weekly now instead of monthly.

I didn't realise you used to have an allotment Rosa, I'm still missing mine so much.

I didn't have it very long Tink, it was when I first moved here and missed my veg patch! But I found it much more difficult and time consuming when everything involved a ten minute walk instead of popping out to the garden, and at the time I couldn't afford to sort out a shed etc to keep tools on site. Plus the soil was AWFUL - my garden was so good as it was an old house and the gardens used to feed the family so it had been cultivated for centuries, there was even the old pigsty there! The allotment site I think must be relatively recent and I reckon it would have taken a couple of years to get it sorted even adding loads of manure etc. I just didn't have the time. I do still miss growing things though, it's one of the things I need to think about for moving again.

I have pots in the garden here and it did occur to me that if I'd been organised this year I could probably have grown quite a lot even in a small space. Do you have room for a few pots or troughs?
