In my manual for lcd tft pc monitor it says just use window or glass cleaner to clean the screen, but spray onto a cloth, NEVER spray onto the screen itself. Dust with a bounce sheet to keep reduce static.
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

Check manual before using anything other than a damp cloth. Some screens chemicals can damage and effects the warranty. I didn't know this until a friend who is an area manager now for a electricals retailer told me.
One day I might be more organised...........

    Hi

A years ago I purchased from PC World
a pack of 100 Screen Cleaning Tissues

They cost about £15 which I think is very expensive

I would only need to use about one per month, so I expected the pack to last me a few years.
They were simply small thick tissues soaked in some solution nothing special not very strong smelling

This is the packaging for further info

    screencleaning.jpg

They were contained in a small hard plastic case, within which the tissues were compactly bound within a see through plastic bag

Recently I went to use it but to my disgust  when I removed the plastic top I noticed there was some sort of fibrous fungus/bacteria growth on all the tissues making them unusable so I binned them.
This also happened to my brother who purchased a bit before me, so the product concept is definetly defective rather then my usage.

So now I'm thinking rather then fork out another £15 for a few soaked tissues before they are spoiled.........
there must be a way to clean laptop screens using basic cleaning materials
The right material and the right solution

I only need to clean my laptop screen every now and then and sometimes my scanner glass

    Any ideas would be appreciated

    get a microfibre cloth

    http://www.bellhygiene.co.uk/?products_id=568

dampen one corner of the cloth and clean the screen then dry with the rest of the cloth

    works for me

    Hi Browntoa

    Thanks for the info

Do you soak in just water or anything else?

    I got this from Wikipedia.
    Wikipedia wrote:
Microfiber is unsuitable for some cleaning applications as it accumulates dust, debris, and particles. Sensitive surfaces (such as all high-tech coated surfaces e.g. CRT, LCD and plasma screens) can easily be damaged by a microfiber cloth if it has picked up grit or other abrasive particles during use. The cloth itself is generally safer to use on these surfaces than other cloths, particularly as it requires no cleaning fluid. One way to minimize the risk of damage to flat surfaces is to use a flat, non-rugged microfiber cloth, as these tend to be less prone to retaining grit.

Do you use a particular brand of cloth?

Thanks to Mums hard work, I don't know much about cleaning products
But I would probably first check Wilkinson aka Wilko for Microfiber, unless anyone has any ideas.
