Hi Techies
Have a Asrock Fata1ity P67 motherboard. Everything worked fine for a few days, but then it crashed and as the Win7 install disks are in Thailand, I cannot repair from CD. Have used the microsoft usb/Dvd download tool and burnt a copy to USB. (Laptop DVD drive has given up, so reason for USB )
Problem is, that I cannot find a boot setting for external devices, which seem to be on a lot of setups now.
Any ideas, apart from going off somewhere to burn the DVD??
Thanks.

The online version of the manual of your motherboard can be found here:
ftp://europe.asrock.com/manual/Fatal1ty%20P67%20Professional.pdf
On boot you should be able to press F2 or del during the POST (power on self test). Unfortunately after doing this you will be greeted with a low res image of Johnathan "fatal1ty" Wendel - but at least you should be glad it's not a high res one!
The "Boot" option should be what you need to look at - set the boot priority for #1 to the USB, shuffling the others down as you go.
Thanks,

I have the manual, but that is not so clear as to how add a outside drive as a boot option.:mad:As Manuel says in Fawlty Towers: " I Know Nothing"0 -
You need a prog called plop boot manager, this ISO needs to be burnt to cd. Boot the cd with the usb plugged in, you can then chose the usb to boot from.

Is the USB drive actually connected? Often the option doesn't show unless you have a bootable USB option connected. Also, perhaps there is a BIOS update available.0

I thought that the problem was that he didn't have a working optical disc drive.0 -

Hi. The problem is that as soon as the comp boots it comes up with error code 0xc000000f. Have gone into the bios, but it has not got the usb drive listed, and I cannot see how to add it.
Think the original crash was caused by the ram as although I have 2 cards in, only one is showing up, even though diagnostics tested both as ok.As Manuel says in Fawlty Towers: " I Know Nothing"0 -
Get someone else to burn the files to disc for you.0

Thanks for the suggestions. As a "Oldie", I am only used to the bios settings, so UEFI is like Greek!!!!
This is in the UEFI advanced menu.
USB 2........... Enabled
USB 3............Enabled
Legacy USB2 Enabled
Legacy USB3 Disabled
If I go into the legacy usb2, I have the options .... enabled. disabled, Auto, or EUFI Setup only.
Should I be changing a setting in here??
