Is there an alternative option of paying them off do you know? I'd be happy for them to take me to court and for me to say what I'm being expected to pay for. It just wouldn't be allowed for anything else that can be purchased, surely???
As for my credit rating, I have no debt except a mortgage; not even an overdraft, so they can trash my credit rating all they like.
If they trash your credit it will stop you getting a contract with another network probablyIt's not just about the money0 -
I still have a problem with the provider: Orange. I don't know when a text has been received as it invariably says "can't send message Try again"
You haven't had this problem all the time.
So either it is a problem with Orange that has just started and they will surely fix soon, or it is a problem with the new handset. I'm guessing, given that other people aren't complaining about the same thing in their droves and it happened when you got the new phone, that it's a handset problem rather than an Orange problem.
The handset is either faulty or being used incorrectly.
The shop you got it from can sort this for you. They either need to give you a working phone, or show you what settings, etc, are needed to make your phone work.
Don't stop paying Orange. At least unless you can be totally sure that they are the ones in the wrong.
If my TV stopped working I wouldn't stop paying my electric bill.0 -
You obviously don't fully understand the implications of having a default on your credit files!
And again, please stop over reacting! Talking about letting Orange take you to court?! I take it in the 17 minutes since it was suggested, you haven't been to P4U to see if thye can help?
I guess I don't understand the implications of having a default on my credit ratings; what happens then?
Alas, I work full time, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. My next chance to go back to P4U is tomorrow. As I've said in my original post, I have made contact with P4U before posting here.0 -
You've been with Orange for years.
You haven't had this problem all the time.
Sorry, I've not explained myself very well... It's a new contract with Orange, as of last Saturday. Previously I was with O2.0 -

Okay, here is one example.
You say you have a mortgage. Lets say your fixed term ends or your variable rate changes and your interest rate, and hence payments, sky rocket.
What would you do? Go to another lender for a better rate, right? So far, so good...... UNTIL they credit check you and reject you because of your default with Orange.
So you're stuck with a rubbish mortgage rate, paying way more than you could be, if only you had passed the credit check, to get a better deal with another lender.......
You will also be credit checked for various other services, including mobile phones, sim only deals, credit cards, virgin / sky packages, insurance and LOADS more.
Find someone who has a trashed credit history and ask them how it has impacted their life, then tell me you "wouldn't care".0 -

Thanks for the explanation. I guess I've never been trashed with my credit rating before now to know better.0 -
Thank you so much everyone who has replied to this thread. As ignorant, inflammatory and/or stupid I might apprear to be on this thread, at least I've learned lots from your replies, which I'm really appreciative of. Now I can go back to phone shop and know what to ask for. Again, thanks heaps everyone.
Best wishes,
S :-)0 -
good luck OP, im sure it will be fine. just keep calm when you go into the shop, and explain that you think some of the settings may need adjusted.0

[I still say it's a phone issue, however...]0
