bt retentions?

Have just been offered Unlimited BB and Anytime calls for £18.80 per month (plus line rental, of course). Anybody getting a better bt deal at the mo?
Oh and they seem to have changed the way you access the customer services people - it used to be 0800 800 150 option 3, now you have to phone 0800 800 150 and talk to the machine. Saying "broadband" and then "CANCELLATIONS!" did it for me.

Sorry not answering your question but am very interested in whatever answers you get. I've been on Unlimited for the last year for £13 odd and was wondering what would happen cost wise when my 12 months on that deal was up - which it will be early next month.
Don't grow up. Its a trap!

    Peace, love and labradors!

That's exactly the deal I was offered when my contract was up - which is the same I was offered when I was looking to change last year!!!! Saves around £12/month on the Option 3 plus anytime call option (£30/month) at full rate. Also opted to pay line-rental up front at £10.75/month.

Hi, I renewed my BT contract just before new year - got infinity option 2 for £17.25p/m + line rental which I opted to pay upfront. Also got the youview box for £49 but with £30 credit applied to my bill so effectively £19 but I do have to pay £5p/m for the BT Vision essential pack for 12 months. I could've taken the infinity without BT Vision for the same cost.

I got this via the online chat feature which popped up when I went to the 'contact us' then 'your bill or account' then 'cancel something' - hang around and a live chat box will pop up and you can 'chat' to a UK based department with the power to other deals.

I just said I was reviewing my products and services, thinking about leaving so would like to see what they can offer... They ask a few questions about your usage and come up with something which may or not be what your after product wise, wasn't for me so I cut to the chase and asked about infinity, youview etc.

I used the current offers for new customers as price point to challenge them with as they'll claim they you'll qualify for a 'loyalty' discount therefore should be better than the offers for a new customer.

Yes, if a user has the nous to do their research re what other providers will offer, when re-negotiating their contract, BT will offer discounts galore to keep them.
  • My 18 month contract with BT has just come to end, they said if I signed up to another 18 months I could have the same deal again which is:

    Line Rental £15.45 per month
Broadband & Calls (basic Option 1 I think its called) £5.00 per month
Anytime Calls add on £5.15 per month

My email confirmation also mentions "Special Offer Discount for 3 months" which then says -£5.00, they didn't mention that in the phone call though.

    Hope that helps.

  • I am with BT Basic Broadband with evening w/e calls at £13 pm. Have received a personalised (ie with account no) letter offering "anytime plan plus" which is free anytime calls plus reduction on calls to mobiles. The letter states "All this costs £8 per month, which is only £4.70 more than you're paying for your existing Unlimited UK Evening & Weekend Plan".

This seem a good deal, so I rang BT and asked if I could have this for £17.70 (£13 existing plus £4.70) and was told I couldn't because my free calls were part of the BB package. Why did they send me this letter knowing the contract I was on? Could I have insisted that they honoured the promise in the letter?

What will happen costwise is that you WILL revert to the full cost for everything at the end of your 12 months unless you phone BT and do some haggling. Actually, haggling is the wrong word as I simply asked them if they could continue giving me a discount, they said they were sure that they could, and off we went discussing how much. Sometimes you do need to say that you are prepared to leave BT - it all depends on the customer service person you get. The last couple of people I've had have been pusscats.
