I'll add a bit of snow advice aswell.
When driving through snow slush, be aware of pedestrians not only on pavements but in the road aswell. And drive slowly past them for obvious reasons. But also because the higher your speed the further your tyres will spray out snow slush. Are you aware that a pedestrian can claim from you/your insurers for damage to clothing as a result of your vehicle splashing them with water from a puddle? The same would apply to snow slush. So slow down and they won't get sprayed.
Good advice and it's also good to remember the snow makes not only other drivers behave like idiot's but pedestrians as well....
Regardless of your lack of traction they tend to walk in the road (well the traffic is slow)... or run across playing snowballs or.....
and when its dark and snowing visibility is further reduced ....0 -
They seem to be doing this a lot round mine at the moment and I find it really annoying. If I ever feel the need to walk in the street, I make sure I'm on the correct side, ie, facing traffic, and I step back on to the pavement whenever there's oncoming traffic. The last thing you should be doing is causing a driver, who's already got the conditions working against them, to alter their speed and direction because you're finding it a bit slippy underfoot or you don't want to get your nice new "uggs" dirty.Good advice and it's also good to remember the snow makes not only other drivers behave like idiot's but pedestrians as well....

Here is some pointers when driving an automatic FWD or RWD car:
(1) Use the snowflake/winter button when starting off. On most cars this puts the gearbox into 3rd gear which helps to minimise wheelspin/slip. If your car doesn't have a snowflake/winter button then select 3rd gear.
(2) When braking or approaching a junction/obstruction which may be icy, use the gear lever to select N (neutral) On most cars there is a shiftlock to prevent you from moving the lever too far into R or P. But you can freely switch between D and N. This has the effect of reducing or cutting drive to the wheels. The last thing you want on a slippery surface is the car trying to push forwards against your limited grip/brakes.The man without a signature.0 -

I can reverse the car into the garage but I can't open the doors to get out. Not enough room to climb out of the windows and no sunroof.
Fact is most cars are too big for 1960's spec garages.
Whos talking 1960s? Have you not seen some of the ridiculously small garages that are put on modern new builds?0 -

On a conventional auto, this is pointless. All it will do is ensure that the highest gear used will be 3rd. The car will start in 1st as usual, change through 2nd and up to 3rd where it will stay until the rev limit for that gear is reached, then it will change up into 4th.0 -

Perhaps we should all vote the driver of Audi reg SN57VHL a special award, how about pillock of the millenium. Strange though , the registration SN is allocated to Dunbartonshire and also the USN London. You scullion! You rampallian! You fustilarian! I’ll tickle your catastrophe (Henry IV part 2)0 -
Saw 2 vehicles earlier, 1 was i presume a 4x4 which still had snow on the bonnet plus some on the roof which was incredibly dangerous and the other was a BMW with snow on the roof which again was dangreous. Do people not think.0
