Pound seems to be 'plummeting' according to papers - it dropped to an 8 month low against the dollar after Thursday's news, weakened by Cons potential referendum speech. Looks like the U word (uncertainty) is as chilling as ever for potential investors.

Would usually be good for exports-except there arent any! this time round.

Anything else plummeting at the moment? Like labour's lead in the polls?

Oh, I forgot, surveys are invalid evidence.

Had to go check when you said this.

Labour do seem to have lost a fair amoutn of support over the last week. Labour leading with 6 points now.

Labour had a 12 point lead on the tories 2 weeks back. So much was made over these polls. Wonder if the same will be done now!?
  • You need to keep up - this is a very fast changing story - Labour's score is unchanged ! Ukip have not really lost anything to the cons - ComRes has reverted to previous methodology in calculating voter intention, reclassifying dont knows! This is nothing new-ukip just confirming a lowering trend of last couple of weeks. Poss change +2 from them to Cons at most. However, we shall see...

You can bet there'll be some dodgy excuse.

I'll explain to you both how the polls work

Lead is a different concept than support

eg Labour's lead is unchanged and their number remains the same - still solid favourites to win the general election. it is the other 2 parties that are scrabbling for votes and exchanging voters.

    Do you see?

So Com Res is showing that cons took a few back from ukip (though the numbers in dispute as they went back to their old system of assigning dont knows this week)

When the poor battling motorists get to the pump, then we ll see what the mood is on the forecourt and how the polls reflect that. Osborne has been reprimanded now by almost all the experts and devalui8ng the pound wont work in this new economic age.

Labour only having a 6 point lead is fairly significant given that we should be at the peak of mid-term dissatisfaction with the Coalition.

It must be squeaky bum time at Labour HQ, eh DecentLivingWage?

I can't see IndecentNonsenseSpewers posts as he's on my ignored shills list but as I can see the threads title I can guess what he's ranting about. To which I add simply that in 1999 when launched the Euro was worth about 65p by the end of 2008 it was worth over 90p. Labour were in charge for that entire period.

Now I'm neither stupid enough to think that is an obvious problem, or so pathetically biased towards a political party that the truth is irrelevant to me; one or both of which are 'qualities' he has in abundance.

  • Labour's support hasnt changed - still solid favourites to win in 2015 - the cons and ukip are having their own little scrap - the euro crisis and dollar crisis worries are temp over, which leaves the pound flailing and spiralling down. Wont help exports as we dont have many any more and construction and manufacuring have tanked. Lib Dems could be walking away.....

    It has. That's raw reality.

Go to Yougov.co.uk and click on results. You can map the changes. It's easy to do...hence why it was being done when they were gaining a further lead.
