Personally, I would argue that you've not accepted the goods and removing the label isn't necessarily to be considered as accepting them.

You might need to get tough with the company though; just tell them you are rejecting the item as it isn't what you ordered. Ask how they want it returning to them, and give them the choice to either offer a full refund or send a replacement in the correct size. If they refuse, threaten legal action.

I wouldn't worry really about it being a bit small for your dog.

If it is anything like my dog was ( shepherd/lab x ) he used to lie 1/2 in, 1/2 out of the largest dog basket I could find and then the sides would roll up over the top of him and he turned into a real life' hot dog' The basket was the bun, all he needed was onions and a bit of ketchup to finish the look !

Your dog won't be bothered at all by it, they never stay in them long enough anyway. Your greyhound will be zonked out on the couch before you leave the room.

Just put it down to experience and take the £10 they are offering. I don't think you will get anything else.

If the paperwork said XXL, then you had no reason to believe they'd sent the wrong bed. Cutting the label off is irrelevant.

WRITE to them stating they've sent the wrong product, and you'd like them to collect it and send the XXL one, or issue you with a full refund.

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
  • Thank you everyone.
I'm going to try and get a replacement bed from the company and then see what happens.
  • If you are able to buy another, a proper size, that you feel is more comfortable for your dog, then do so, and maybe find a locally run dog home who would love a donated bed instead. A bit of good could come from it.[/QUOTE]

I only just donated the £80 bed that he would not go on to the greyhound rescue he was from! So it's been a bit of a comedy of errors getting a new bed for him!
  • Ok, just used to people saying things like unfortunately, or sorry about that etc. It just comes across a bit harsh, like I'm stupid for not seeing a mistake straight away...

Why would someone on here apologise? They didn't send you the wrong bed, or tell you anything incorrect.

They just told you the answers you didn't want to hear, which unfortunately is correct.

You asked a question, you have your answers and it appears you're going to go against the advice given anyway... so what was the point in asking if you knew what you were going to do anyway? :)

Well I think the OP is entited to the correct bed, as the paperwork said XXL, but the bed wasn't.

I bought some ski gloves that were medium, the hanger thing said medium, so I cut the label out before trying them on only to find they were small. The shop swapped them with no arguments, as it was their mistake.

But you hadn't let your dog sleep on them for days, had you? ;)

That strikes me as another good indication that the OP has accepted the goods.

as soon as you allowed your dog to use the bed then this was accepted.

I actually asked for any advice about dealing with the company in order to get the bed I ordered! I was a bit upset that some of the comments have given the impression that I was stupid to let the dog on the bed or cut off the tag - which was actually before I had any idea it was the wrong item. Perhaps some posters don't understand (or care!) how their text can come across to people, even if they don't mean it to sound harsh. People can of course say what they want or give the advice they think is right, I want to hear all views - but it is about the way you say it! Be nice, even if it is bad news!

If I had known, before, I would not have opened the packet, let the dog on it etc and sent it straight back, and also - having worked in retail myself (for Chanel, Harrods, La Prairie, etc) I know that most companies deal with these issues much better. What I do now understand that the 'accepted' status is ambiguous, thanks to everyone's posts here, so I may now ask my lawyer's advice. Thank you!
