I see where you are coming from but there has never been ANY indication that you should even aim to take your hols between April ans Sept. Also, I was previously in a different dept who had the same system and different allowances. I had already taken 3 weeks of my 6 by Sept.
There has been a known issue with the availability of hours as well.0 -
Oh I agree with you, as said you need to get onto your manager who gets onto theirs and so oneoopsadaisydoddle wrote: »I see where you are coming from but there has never been ANY indication that you should even aim to take your hols between April ans Sept. I shall use that to speak to my manager on Mon (he's been off unexpectedly this week). If things aren't resolved then I shall put it i. writing.
I actually get quite a decent amount of hols so some of it is over and above the 28 days.
Thanks again.
As I understand it, its only the statutory days which your employer has to allow, anything over that can be 'lost'Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0 -

I believe that is the case too, but surely if there is no opportunity to take them, it is a tad unfair?
Thinking back, I know there was definitely no allowance for at least the last part of October, November, December and right through now until March.
Surely this can't be right?!
I moved from a different department and was never told that I wouldn't be allowed to take hols from Nov onwards and to get any I wanted in in October!
On another note (but to show how messed up things are), I was given a promotion with pay rise and increase in hours starting from Nov 5th (but agreed to 30 days prior to that) and I still haven't had my salary increase or my extra hours paid!!!!0 -
Nope. Days over and above under contract should be pursued under contract law and should not be weakly assumed to be lost. Days up to 28 should be pursued under statute. As I understand it, its only the statutory days which your employer has to allow, anything over that can be 'lost'You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'0 -
Also, there's nothing on our intranet site to state that when you take you holidays, you take the statutory allowance first. So in theory, I could argue that the ones I had taken were out of my additional ones and therefore get them to pay me for my statutory ones?
Obviously I am probably totally wrong there!!0 -
I have actually just seen proof that all of the allocation available was oversubscribed on every day since 1st October! As far as I can see, that means there has not actually been enough allocation to accommodate all employees hols, which means there is always going to be someone losing out.
Not sure I can use this info though!0 -
If all the days are booked and the staff cant take hols before the year end then its upto management to sort out by either taking more staff on or using agency staff as cover.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0
