Incomplete name on credi card

3D secure may be another matter, but excluding that, names are uncheckable.Don't know, but I do remember having problems sometimes when putting my surname instead of the full name on the card. It might have been just a coincidence though as usually I just give my surname without any problems.
You always have to remember that the perceived threat of checking is a very good counter fraud/ illegal activity deterrent. I saw a stat a few years ago that shops that had signs saying there was concealed CCTV but there was none achieved ~90% of the drop in thefts as stores that had the signs and actually installed them.0 -
has he got a fairly long name???
theemboss sytem on credit cards only allows about twenty digits including spaces.
Get him to call and they will amend it.0 -

I have half of my surname on credit card and always put full surname when I am paying online. Never had any problems.0

Interesting.
I have one MasterCard which shows my first initial instead of my first name, i.e. 'R' instead of 'Roger'. When using the card online, 'R' sometimes doesn't work and I am forced to include 'Roger' even though it is not the name shown on the card.

If you go abroad it needs your full name, i.e. all US card places ask for a form of ID with the card as don't use chip & pin just swipe and debit0
