EE Vs Virgin - Should I switch?

Hi all,
I'm currently on one of the half price offers from T-Mobile for the past 3 years, where I get 600 mins, Unlimited Texts and Internet for £7.50 a month. There were times where I had to keep ringing back because the advisor wouldn't renew the deal for me, but it seems now that as they have merged to be EE, I won't be receiving this deal from them anymore when my contract is up.
Now, I've gone over my allowance plenty of times, and was looking to buy the £12 Virgin Essential Sim Only, where I get 1200 mins, Unlimited Texts and 1GB Data. This is extremely tempting, as I've seen everywhere that Virgin are generous with their customer service, and really do give out good offers.
In addition to that, if I go with Virgin and being a Student, I'll receive 15% off my bill each month, which obviously helps with the costs
I was wondering if I should make the switch? I live right in the city so reception has never really been a problem for me, except data speeds.
Thank you all in advance!
