sky broadband

I am currently with BT broadband getting 6.5mb speed and although it is pricey at some £26 per month for option 3 i am happy with the speed and service.I have noticed that sky have enabled my exchange recently and I can now get the SKY MAX with is speeds up to 16 MB for only a tenner a month>My question is has anyone had any experience of SKY MAX the changing over ,speeds and general experience of them.I have Sky tv at moment costing £21 per month

The key is up to, you might not get any increase in speed, I'm on the Mid package and sync at 8190kbps, check out other users experiences on https://www.skyuser.co.uk

    Hi,
One thing to bear in mind that the sync speeds are more to do with the distance between you & the phone exchane, quality of the cables etc.
Assuming you are on a BT exchange and not an unbundled one then virutally all ISP's get their connections from BT Wholesale; therefore changing to Sky is only an ISP change but not the connection. If the ISP is oversubsribed then regardless of sync speeds you make get poor throughput etc.
If your exchange is unbundled then the BT Wholesale bit is not so much of an issue.

I have been with sky since 10th March - MID package and I haven't had any problems it has been excellent up to now. I also went for sky talk which is evenings and weekends free (which is not under a contract so you could change) and I may go for sky talk anytime for £5.

If you are thinking of going for MAX, make sure that your line is capable of speeds up to 16mb, it may be that your line is only capable of speeds up to 8mb.

Also remember you don't have to take the £26 package for mid - this includes 6 mix sky tv, if you like you could take 2 mixes which would be £20.

Mine is working well now, but my personal experience with skyBB customer service was very poor, took months after the activation date for me to get a service that worked

I was worried or should I say nervous about migrating (to any ISP) because of mixed reviews but my experience on migrating to sky couldn't have been better and was connected two days before the expected date and everything works perfectly. I think there is a lot of luck involved!

If anything does go wrong or there is a problem I think customer service with these providers are generally poor.

I moved from ntlfreedom - now virgin media and now I have a problem with virgin media, since moving and phoning them up to make sure my account was closed after the 30 day notice (which they confirmed) I received another bill on Friday and after phoning them for an explanation they say that my account is still active because sky did not use the MAC code provided and so they could not close my account, but I am with sky! They say that the account will now be closed 28th May - I am not paying 2 providers but that is another story!

A MAC code from virgin is useless as their broadband is through cable and sky is through your phoneline so it does not affect virgin in anyway shape or form

Hi Moneymiser, try logging in here
    http://www.sky.com/portal/site/skycom/home

Use the username and password that Sky provided you with.

Then after a few minutes give the broadband portal another go.

    It worked for me.

My virgin was not cable (I am not in a cable area) I had a modem went through BT line. Originally with ntlfreedom then it changed to virgin media. I know many have cable virgin but I was not one of them. I did need a MAC code from virgin which they provided and sky used.

I had the same problem and was never able to log into my sky email from August last year - until yesterday when I finally got in!!!

There is a link on the skyusers website forum, but basically go to the "forgot password" page and try entering new details from there.
