Best way to make large euro payment please

Need to make a payment, ideally by bank transfer of 3500 euros. Whats the best and cheapest way to do it please ?

I think a card payment might be possible but recipient has requested transfer to their account

  • If this is for Timeshare, operators often do this to avoid any form of cancellation or cooling off period.

Card payment would be preferable for safety, although (depending on the card you use) likely to be more expensive than a transfer using a cheap provider.

If you do want to do a transfer, http://www.transferwise.com gives the best rates, and seems to be reliable.

I have considered opening an XETrade account a few times but am put off by the fact they refuse to tell you their exchange rates until you sign up. Pretty daft marketing IMO... if other sites can do it, why not them?

Potentially useful site... shame it doesn't include the cheapest providers.
