Help needed on Virgin Mobile tariffs please

I have a Nokia 6070 on Virgin pay monthly (receive a bill each month for calls/texts).
I used not to use the phone much. However, the last bill was for £17.50. This was for 21 calls to landlines and other Virgin phones, totalling 47 mins, 4 calls to mobiles on other networks (under 2 mins), 94 texts to Virgin mobile phones and 83 texts to other networks.
Recently I have been averaging around 150 texts a month, probably evenly split over Virgin/non-Virgin numbers. Calls on this bill were higher than usual and also longer - the previous month there were 11 in total lasting less than 2 minutes in total.

I am confused. I am happy with my phone. My husband and children are all on Virgin so a lot of texts are same network.
I can see there are Virgin deals/packages/bundles. Can anyone suggest a way for me to save money (or at least cap the spending?) It all seems very complicated. Presumably I could get a new phone on a contract and then just transfer the Sim card to my existing phone. Can I then sell the new phone, or give it to my daughter and sell her old one? I don't want to do anything that relies on cashback as I am not organised enough.

As you dont use the phone that often then if you want to take out a new contract then the 3 network they are offering 500 cross network mins or 75 mins and 600 texts for £15 per month for life, you also get a free phone which you can sell and if you get around £100 for it then you will only be paying around £70 for the year.

if you're not bothered about getting a new phone and are a virgin media customer then try the virgin 300 mins/300 txts for £10 a month

Tho the three sim will not work in the Nokia 6070..so you will need a three compatible phone.

The three contracts are still however very good value.

There are the two £15 a month ones as JAYMARSH2005 said and one for £17.50 a month for 750mins and 150 txt. Both deals are 18month contracts.

You can get cashback from quidco; £70 for the £15/mth contract and £100 for the £17.50/mth contract.

You can get £30 more discount from reccommend a friend (you and the friend both get £30 each). Just find a friend on the three network and input their number...if you dont know anyone pm me and I will give you mine.

In addition..three are currently offering a further £25 cashback on the £15/mth deal if you take a Sony Ericsson K610 or a Nokia 6288.

    So in the end:

    £15/mth equates to £8.06/mth for 18mths
    £17.50/mth equates to £10.28/mth for 18mths

    :)

Are you on Virgin Payg paying monthly by d/d ,or have you got a contract?

If its PAYG and you are an existing Virgiin Media customer, you can avail yourself of the £10 a month (300 x-net min,s 300,texts) 30 day contract offer. Call Virgin Mobile with your Virgin Media a/c number and their put you straight on it with same number etc.

Hi, http://www.e2save.com/mobile/phones/disphandset.php?network=o2&handset=SIMONLY have a deal on a 12 month SIM only contract. No phone, so you'd need your current 1 unlocked.

This is an O2 network SIM. You get 200 mins and 250 messages - to any network, for an average of a fiver. The deal works by giving you 10 months 'free' out of the 12 month minimum period of contract.
The £5 average per month is worked out by having 2 pay, in total, £60 for 12 months.

You're then not restricted to having to pay differing amounts for texting Virgin or non-virgin netwworks, when inside of your allowance. From what you've stated about your uusage, this should be almost ideal.

Otherwise, there are some other good deals on e2save that include phones, on most of the networks, including 3.

Hope this helps. Good luck! Rob

Presumably you can go through quidco and get a further £36.50 cashback thus making the total cost for the year £23.50 or £1.95/month??
