I know it shouldn't but this is mainly whats stopping me from making my initial investment in the Vanguard LS fund. I cant help but feel there is a fall coming and hence I'm sitting on the sidelines at the moment. That said I'm very aware of the risk of the market rising while I sit here waiting.......

It is hard to know what to do. But I just seem to find lately that "data heavy weeks causing markets to go into the red" seem to be the norm not the rarity lately. Then when you get supposed "good news" that also makes them fall.

Thee hasn't been much of a risk of them rising just lately.

On radio 4 this morning very early about 0620 ish they talk about the markets and the very words were they have run out of steam.
  • I was also mentioned on the radio that housing is in a bubble and Funding for Lending being withdrawn from mortgages will create an interest rate rise for savers so hopefully there will be some light soon on that and savers who have diversified into more riskier equity investments can then pull back into cash. Not sure how much of the market is made up of that.

I suspect a lot of money coming into the markets in the last 2 years is from people who are fed up with increasingly poor returns on savings - and being honest if it wasn't for that I probably wouldn't be as interested as I am now.

continuation of QE to carry on for 25 years

Careful, the markets could get jittery if you don't set out what might happen after that.

They don't like uncertainty you know - it could be seen as bad news!

There is one certainty about the markets though. That is that "now" is always a great time to invest according to Hargreaves Lansdown.

Glad I never put everything into LifeStrat 100% as I'm only 0.65% up now - money's done better in the bank!

How long have you been invested with VGLS?

YTD is 13%. I suspect you have been invested for less than 2 months?
