We recently refurbished council property where 22 dogs used to live, so the smell was just awful. Just to mention that those dogs never been taken out and did their business inside the house. We ended up ripping the lot out. Floors, ceilings all woodwork including stairs. Every wall had to have 2 coats of stainblock prior any decs. So you might need to get rid of the floors at least.
  • What about hiring an ozone machine? These are used to deodorise houses after house fires; not sure if it works for urine as well but might be worth asking. Also you could try investigating what cleaning companies use on an industrial scale to deodorise toilets and areas where people pee up against walls etc.

I can well believe that the smell of fag smoke covered up the smell of pee - when the smoking ban came in in pubs, the landlords realised they had to make a bigger effort cleaning the bogs! (plus modern fag smoke has some vile chemical additive in it that actually smells a bit like pee itself...)

Hi all, just to bump this topic

Have just mopped a load of neat white vinegar on all the floorboards in the room. Let's see if this makes any difference once it's dried out.... :)
