I popped to Halfords yesterday to buy a new bulb for my car. When asked if i would like it fitted, i said jumped at the chance until I was told that it would be an extra £6.99 (on top of my £9.00 bulb!!)!
Obviously refused, to which I was then offered fitting for £3.99!
I was like "What!?"
How appalling!

Depends on your car , some headlights are a problem to fit , standing around struggling in this cold weather , we have taken up their offer.
How is it 'appalling!' ?? they offer a service at a price , YOU have the choice wether to accept.0 -
Do you not find it 'appalling' that a service charge can drop £3 in seconds of someone saying 'no thank you'?0

I think it appalling that they drop the price there and then like that, it makes you wonder0

to change a number plate bulb on mine you have to remove almost all the inside of the tailgate
I would gladly pay someone £6.99 to do the honours
then again it was 2 screws on my old car and would have done it myself !!Ex forum ambassador

I agree, it doesn't look very professional to me. It occurs to me as well it's one of those things which can really irritate a customer when they find someone else has been charged a different price, it doesn't help build customer loyalty in my view.0 -
Which store was that at rachie? I've only ever been offered it at the higher price0

Not really , standard marketing . Guessing if the store had been busy , the second offer would not have been offered0 -
Better for the on site person to do a job for £3.99 than to sit waiting for another job0
