I have just booked a two night stay at travelodge covent garden, I was hoping to see wicked with my 14 year old daughter, but as i am in the covent garden area would it make more sense to choose a show within walking distance of the hotel. Any thoughts appreciated.

Virtually all West End theatres are within close walking distance of Covent Garden.
If you go on the Tax Dodging Google website you can get walking directions from wherever you are to whichever theatre you want here http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&tab=wl
Or you can get directions from the non tax dodging Transport for London's website journey planning by selecting "more options" and unticking buses and tubes etc. http://www.tfl.gov.uk/
There's a ticket booth in Leicester Square that offers cheap tickets, hopefully someone can post on here which on it is.0 -
The closest is The Shaftsbury Theatre, which is less than a hundred yards away or so from the Travelodge (Which is on High holburn/ top of Drury Lane). This does;nt have anything on at the moment but has a 'Strictly' style ballroom dance show opening on 6th March.
This is number 42 on the map of London theatres here

- if you use that as a starting point, it will give you an idea of the proximity of the variosu other ones.0 -
If you want to see Wicked, it's very near Victoria station, only a short underground journey from the Covent Garden. If you don't fancy changing tube trains, you can walk down to Embankment station, which is on the direct line to Victoria.Early retired - 18th December 2014

Hi. We are staying in the covent garden travelodge
in february, and are also hoping to see wicked. Have you got your tickets yet? A tip a friend gave me recently was, that on the day of the show you want to see, go directly to the box office and ask them what they have available that day/evening? Apparently they always have tickets left which they will not charge at full price.
I had no idea you could do this, and was going to do it through a ticket agent. Has anyone else had any experience of this, or was my friend just lucky?
Sorry for going off on somewhat of a tangent.0 -
Meant to say, my friend and her family saw two shows at discounted prices by doing this, one of which was matilda. Cant remembervwhat the other one was.0

I have heard of something called day tickets, i think there are something like 24 front row seats which they sell on the day, check out theatre monkey for more info, i would love to hear about your trip when you get back x0 -

If you're going before the 18th February, then it might be worth getting your tickets in advance via the 'Get Into London Theatre' promotion that runs for the first six/seven weeks of the year each year.

It has cheap tickets for Wicked - you may well be right in that you can get cheap tickets from the box office on the day, but unless it's your only/main reason for going to London, it seems a shame to waste time travelling to Victoria to get tickets (which may not be available) on the day when there are so many other things to do in London.0 -
It is a ten minute journey on the tube from Covent Garden to Victoria with one change at Green park, if you want to see Wicked. The theatre is beside the station. We have been to see Wicked a few times now and it is worth seeing IMO.If you are goin soon Get into LOndon Theatre has a sale on and Wicked is included in it. You can turn up at the box office on the day and they reserve the first two rows and sell these seats from 10am on the day for £27.50 each. Weekends I have been told ther is often a queue for these tickets an hour or more before the box office opens. Weekdays it is easier to get these tickets.0

Thanks for the replies, we are staying a night at the london central tower bridge hotel, before we move over to covent garden and looking at the tube map it looks like it would be easier to go from there. is this correct? Also i have seen a deal on lastminute.com where you can get theatre tickets and a meal at hard rock cafe for i think £52, these seems like a good deal to me. Any thoughts please?0
