  • We're also looking at staying at the Travelodge at Covent Garden and looking to get tickets for somewhere. We don't really want to risk it for the day in case we can't get tickets (there are 8 of us) but we can't find prices in advance without paying £20 extra. I just want to pay face value!

Who is trying to charge £20 more than face value?? If you look at the theatre websites you should find links to book direct for face value. Also look at ticketing websites such as SEE who often sell tickets to London shows.

Thanks for the replies, we are staying a night at the london central tower bridge hotel, before we move over to covent garden and looking at the tube map it looks like it would be easier to go from there. is this correct? Also i have seen a deal on lastminute.com where you can get theatre tickets and a meal at hard rock cafe for i think £52, these seems like a good deal to me. Any thoughts please?

You could go from Tower Hill tube station direct to Victoria in about 15 mins. In regard to Lastminute.com, they do some good meal and theatre ticket deals, but often it is for the cheaper seats (you don't know your seats until you arrive at the theatre). I have used lastminute for shows in the past when they have had a 48 hour sale on and it is a bit hit and miss as to whether you get good seats or some that are high up cramped legroom seats. If it is a show I really want to see, I prefer to choose good seats (using Theatre Monkey seat reviews to do so).

Hard Rock Cafe is great if your into music, which fortunately I am, but the choice is the usual burgers ribs and stuff, but they are nice. I've been fortunate enough to do London, Paris, (Twice.) and Universal Studios in Orlando which is a brilliant venue. There is plenty of memorabilia to look at if you pick the right one, as some are smaller than others. And if you pick the right night, there are live acts as well.
That's my mutt in the picture above.
  • Can I just say- I went to see Wicked 3 years ago and it was brilliant. Well worth it. Depends what you are upto walking wise but according to Google Maps it is about 2.5 mile walk- probably not a good idea late at night.

If you get a Oyster card you could get the bus for £1.20- and there is a cap of £4.40 a day so you could travel all over London for less than a fiver- not bad at all considering a return costs me £3.40 for a 20 minute journey to my local town!

It is! I didn't know until recently (a friend who moved there told me) and the buses are pretty much 24/7 to central areas.

though the meal and show deal is good hard rock is not too close to wicked it's a bus ride away. (probably 10mins). like the others say if its before 18th feb use the get into london theatre option or check out theatre monkey for the best offers
  • Shrek is on near covent garden it finishes this february I think not sure of the date.Think the tickets have gone down in price.I bought my tickets directly from the theatre this was last year I had the back row seats but they gave me seats at front without me asking soon as I got there.Wicked looks good haven't seen it but have heard people say it's good and long queues outside theatre. It would be easy to get there on tube tubes are quite fast.I used to be nervous about using tube but they easy to use especially if have a travel card can use dlr, tube, buses and the overground.Don't think can get overground to victoria.
