Morning all.
Yesterday's snow disappeared, but we have another dusting this morning, nothing too bad though.
Today I'm in the welcome position of not having anything too pressing to attend to, which is very welcome.
I'm just going to have a quick mooch round the shops, do a bit of eBay work, declutter a box of paperwork, and read a bit.
Dinner tonight is a tomatoey chicken casserole which I'll serve with rice, looking forward to that, one of my favourites.
Have a good day, everyone.Early retired - 18th December 2014

Morning all,
Only been back in about half an hour from Leos walk, yesterdays snow got washed away by heavy rain but its trying again now and very cold and icy.The log burner is keeping the place warm,we banked it up last night and it stayed in,but I need to go and fill the coal scuttle up soon.I'll have to let it go out before teatime ready for when DGD comes,we dont have it on while she is here as we cant get a fireguard to fit it,its double sided and about a foot above floor height.
Tea tonight, slow cooked beef casserole, might even do some dumplingsDH and DS2 finished work early yesterday as they were doing a roof, and kept getting wet, they were chilled to the bone.DS couldn't face going out again to his college course so worked on his latest assignment instead.
DS1 was meant to be playing 5 a side but it was cancelled due to floodlight failure, was his first week too. He's trying to rebuild his life after finally splitting with his gf just before Xmas and trying to get out more, but a lot of his friends are now with partners so it's hard.Didnt help that he saw on face bk she has been away with another man last weekend, shame he can't move on as quick but he's always been a loyal faithful type.
I finished painting the kitchen last week, amazing what you can get done when you're offline. We had some friends over at the weekend and it was lovely and tidy. Not any more  so want a good tidy up today, better get going then.
Tina- I got that book for Christmas, enjoyed it.

Whoop just had refund cheque from utility company for £274 :j :j But just bought my car insurance at £284
. Ah well, least that almost covers it :rotfl:. Felt rich for all of 5 minutes!
OS update - made big pot of chilli for freezer cos I had a few onions on the turn. Freezer is chocablock now with food, so will try run it down a bit next month (my months run from the 21st). Had planned to use up lots of stuff whilst I've been off but just seem to have added to it! :rotfl:.

Morning All
I managed to get a better night's sleep, but still woke up at 3.30am, but this time I just snuggled under the duvet and went back to sleep.
We still have snow on the ground and it is very icy under foot. I have put some fresh food and water out for the poor birds.
I am housebound when it is like this, too dodgy to go out with my knees the way they are, housework is done so I am rewarding myself with a quiet afternoon with my feet up, a film and some knitting and I can't wait for Death in Paradise tonight, brilliant
DH wants celery soup for lunch so that is on the bubble with some bread that I have just taken out of the oven.
Jools I hope things are ok with you x
Keep safe and warm everyone

I'd like to say I make my own salsa. I don't
It's sausages cooked and sliced, onions, peppers all cooked, boil some rice and mix everything together with a jar of spicy salsa.
Not very OS but TBH skinning tomatoes makes me gag so I do lazy thing and buy a jarI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Afternoon All
((jools)) Hope you are OK
Had a bit of a lazy morning, had a contact from the US on the Family Tree so that set me off tidying up that lineThen had the TT engineers due to internet speed intermittent problem. It had been better last 10 days, no fault found in the house, but he could not run the tests to the exchange, so after talking to India, they wanted to escalate it BT OW, but if a fault found in the house £50, no way I said I have had 2 BT OW enginners and 2 TT engineers confirming the house is OK so far, so no way am I risking them pretending the fault is in the house so I have to pay. Very amusing conversation with the Indian lady, who would not listen to their engineer or me, and just kept reciting her screen in various ways, which I kept saying no to, at one stage she said, "You do not understand me", to which my reply was I understand you very well, I have no problems understanding English", I also added that no way could I agree to £50 as I was a pensioner, to which the engineer looked up in amazement and said I didn't look it, maybe a bit of BS but it made my day, anyway I came up with a delay solution (as I am going away anyway), which she could not grasp at all, so the engineer ended up talking to her again, it stressed him, but I was having fun. They give you an internet speed test url, which you can then add your number and send it in to them which records against your account, about 10 day ago I lost my rag with it, and they got rather a lot of records showing the inconsistency, strangely enough it then started working fine:o hence why I want to leave it for now.;)
The YS duck I did on Sunday did 4 of us on Sunday, I then popped it in the SC with some water, and cooked it on low overnight, unbelievable the amount of meat which came off it, it did DH & I last night, and I also have a container full of "other bits not bones" which Skye is enjoying with some Duck stock jellified. Still enough meat for at least one of us tonight, and bits for Skye for a few days. The drained off Duck fat could be used for roasties, but will probably get thrown.:D
I had my annual check with the nurse at the Drs and came back with a clean bill of health, cholesterol had come back OK, (good job as I don't want to take tablets for that) and my water sample was clear, and BP lowest I've known it for a while and just take one tablet for that, so apart from creaking knees, I'm good to go!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: DH who only has the cholesterol test, came back OK too, but he does take a low dose tablet, but eats no real fat anyway.:T:T:T
Molly, LW, BB Kezlou, hillstep and all others who have difficulty getting about this weather - thinking of you. ((hugs)), Spoons, Positive Vibes, Hi-5's all round.
Better start packing

Hi all
Oh dear, my cold is back with a vengeance:( – I have til 25th January to get completely rid of it, as that's when Megan arrives.
Cat_smith that's a lovely pic of Oz you posted the link to yesterday – you're right, he's very furry, but I bet he's worth every minute you spend cleaning up dog-hair.:o
Kezlou oh dear, that medical appointment sounds like it was a washout;:( I know the feeling. There seems to be an ethic now of “if it ain't in the blood test, ignore it, never mind what the patient tells you about how they feel”. Have a gentle (((HUG))) I know it doesn't solve anything, but it might make you feel a tad better.:o
Ooh, and interestingly, in the paper yesterday, they named a whole load (18 I think) of hospitals that were not up to scratch in seeing that patients got fed properly (not helping people who couldn't manage to eat unaided, leaving food out of reach, interrupting meals, whisking food away before patients have finished eating, style of thing) and our local hossy was one of those named.
Islandmaid sorry, I had to laugh at little Eric's antics yesterday....:rotfl: I hope your poor OH is ok, mouse bites can hurt!
Veggie stew for dins tonight; hopefully I'll feel well enough to a) make it and b) eat it! Mr LW has prepped a load of veg and left them in water for me:A so I just have to make some dumplings. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0
