Friend attacked in London
Comments
-
Thanks all for your comments...to answer a few of the more common questions, I offered him the spare room for a few nights as I live in the countryside, so would give him a break from London (he is now very anxious to move out of the capital).
As for random attacks...London isn't the only city this kind of thing happens in, by all means - when I was at Aberdeen Uni, a girl was attacked walking back to the Uni from town one evening apparently because she was English (which, having seen some of the attitudes of certain people in that city, I can believe!).
Getting him to the doctor...he wont go, but I have warned him if he gets a headache/feels dizzy, etc, he needs to go *immediately*, and I think/hope he took that on board...he has large circular grazes on his face that have also started to scab over, poor bloke.
Anyhow...he said he was feeling a little better, and has given notice on his current flat and is looking elsewhere, outside of London now, so fingers crossed he will be okay!0 -

Having left London I now live in the country side, in a rural spot but not too far from small towns. There was a woman raped in my road the year we moved here.
Horrid stuff happens everywhere.
I hope your friend is ok, he sounds very shaken up and it seems foolish to make life changing decisions at such a time.0 -

I agree with lostinrates that he should take a few weeks to regain his equilibrium before making any decisions. When DH was mugged his initial reaction was to want to move to a different area, or even out of London completely, but within a couple of weeks he realised that wasn't what he wanted at all, and that a longer commute to work and a more rural area would lead to a much worse quality of life for him.0 -

He's never been terribly thrilled with where he's living...he kind of rushed into it due to circumstances and lack of options, and is still stuck between a rock and a hard place, *but* if he moves in the right direction out of London, he will actually be closer to work, so commute costs will be less.0
