    No they haven't.
I haven't tried Photoshop (already have it) but I did try Acrobat and Audition downloads from the same web page and both installed and ran using the keys provided. I did not see any catch - am I missing something?
Never let it get you down... unless it really is as bad as it seems.

  • Okay, this has obviously been posted before. Just going on personal experience. I downloaded Photoshop, Premiere Pro and Photoshop Elements and they all work fine.
  • They all work fine for free, it is CS2. It has no value anymore. I recall an announcement from Adobe on this a while back.

No catch, all free. No idea what the people on the other posts are referring to as I have had numerous clients who wanted to get into Adobe products downloaded, installed and used for a while with no issue.

So let me understand this. The downloads and serial numbers that Adobe have provided allow you to install and operate the software with no restrictions. But the small-print implies that you're only allowed to do this if you already have a license. And if you haven't got a license then you're being a naughty boy/girl and should uninstall it.

This looks like the same business plan that McAfee used years ago. In that case the FTP address to download full versions of their AV software was freely available via search engines and numerous legitimate sites for at least 2 years that I am aware of (until Symantec/Norton took them over) and Mcafee did nothing about it.

Why not? Get people using your software and they are more likely to continue using it if/when they have to pay.

...was allegedly in a forum post which has since been deleted. So for the moment the answer to your (implied) question is: nobody knows!

Edit: 'ere is their official statement.
...to ensure that any customers activating those old versions can continue to use their software, we issued a serial number directly to those customers. While this might be interpreted as Adobe giving away software for free, we did it to help our customers.

OK, so I have interpreted it correctly - you're only allowed to install this software if you've previously bought it. So for all those out there who have not previously bought it and have installed it from Adobe's website - naughty you! Make sure you uninstall it immediately 'cause if you don't I'm sure the Adobe Police will track you down by... (...now let me think, I wonder how they're going to police this... perhaps we should change the topic of this thread so people can post their thoughts on how Adobe can track the downloads and monitor the PCs to check if we've installed it and don't have a license!!)

Alternatively, since they have put the downloads and the keys on a webpage that makes no reference to any restrictions/conditions, perhaps one could consider it as public domain and anybody can us it without a guilty conscience. Not me however! I've uninstalled Acrobat and Audition already (mind you, that's only because they were soo bloated)

  • Not very clear is it? Reminds me of this little gem...

We'll all be dust before that happens. ;)
