Nuisance calls sending me loopy!

Join the club. I seem to get them but they seem to start with 010 numbers most of the time and 12.30 and 17.00 to 18.00 seem to be their favourate time to call.
I do too things nowadays.
First i have added show caller number to my telephone account. Its seems free nowadays so if i see unusual numbers phoning me i dont pick up.
Second I have started reporting them to Offcom under their nuicance and silent calls. It is a bit of work to fill out the form online but if they get enough complaints they are supposed to look into it. Plus it gives m a sense i am doing something.0 -

Only the CPS (or PF in Scotland) can prosecute - as they never have, I doubt they'll start now.0 -
I use to get annoyed with nuisance calls in end I swallowed my pride and got truecall device and I get zero cold calls in 3 years. I still get them but the device blocks most of them occasionally the device interrogates them first and I get a message saying who it is I can then accept call or refuse and not even speak to them if I refuse
I can view online all calls made and record calls too. Most calls are automatically blocked and you can add friends and family to your whitelist so they bypass truecall and numbers you dont want on your blacklist.
Yes it costs money but in my view its well worth it not to be pestered by companies cold calling and scammers too0 -
I reported one to the Info Commissioner a few days ago. These people do not respect the Telephone Preference Scheme and weasel their way out of having to comply.0

As Loanranger says, Information Commissioners Office is the place to go to report unsolicited calls or SMS messages about PPI Claims, Accident Claims etc. I just reported 2 numbers to them today, and an SMS spammer yesterday.
On the basis that in almoast all these cases there is likely to have been a nreach of Data Protection laws enabling the miscreants to get your details in the first place, the more a number or block of numbers is reported to them the more likely they are to pursue an investigation.
TPS is a "Do Not Call" list, reputable organisations will by and large adhere to it (barring the odd clerical error), but ambulance-chasers and claims managment companies are, by definition, not very reputable outfits which don't even bother cross-referencing with the TPS list.
Always report, always!0 -
Some of these parasite companies just get loads of sim cards and use up all the credit so they are much harder to stop although there was one based in York recently that got a huge fine0

Used to get them all the time but have subscribed to BT choose to refuse http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/8500/~/how-to-use-choose-to-refuse
Once you have barred the nusance number, BT answer it with ...the caller is not accepting calls from this number then it hangs up on them
Worth it for a few quid a month.
...but only works for identified calls - most of my "nuisance" calls were of the type that get " we don't have the callers number to return the call" message when using 1471 - I've stopped answering the phone during the day; don't know if its my imagination but since I stopped answering the number of calls seem to have reduced.:TJust checked 1471 and the last incoming call was 10th Jan am !!0 -
+1 for this little device.
Averaging 1- 2 nuisance calls a day before installing this. Had one the first day which I dismissed with the reject button and none since (9 weeks)
Not strictly money saving but certainly mind saving."It's nice to be important but more important to be nice"

+2 for the device. I set mine to block 'no number international' (done via the phones keypad) if anyone knows me abroad needs me badly they can message or call my mobile.
anyway this setting kills all those Indian scam calls dead. Also those American computer voice recordings.
With UK calls from marketing companies its really satisfying.. as soon as you hear 'I am calling on behalf of Acme dodgy double glazing....' press the button and it kills them mid sentence. Next time they call it hangs up on them instantly and blocks your phone ringing. Fantastic.0
