Is anyone else in a similar position? I only work part time at the moment so a few days a week I'm at home most of the day.
Sitting here today doing some work on my laptop the phone has rung 10 times from 2 different numbers, which are:
01614293351
020301611 (though I've missed a couple of digits here)
Thus far I've been ignoring them and letting them ring. The same 2 numbers call here everyday, several times. Today though I finally snapped and had enough. The first one I answered was the 0161 number to which I got an automated message (even after saying 'hello') saying 'Sorry you missed a call from such and such, it is not urgent and we will call again soon.' I DIDN'T MISS THE SODDING CALL I ANSWERED!!
In a bad mood, the next time it was the 020 number. I answered, shouted that they should stop calling every ruddy day and to take the hint (only admittedly I used worse language than that). I was a tad surprised to receive an instant call back, same number, telling me to 'go f**k myself'. Which in fairness made me lol. But 5 minutes later the same number rang and I let it ring.
But anyway, is there nothing I can do to stop these swines calling so often? We're registered with TPS. The first one is a finance company who are calling because my sister looked up finance options online (she's since bought a car). I've told them she's all sorted now so they can stop calling, to no avail.
God knows who the second one is though. I've put both numbers in to 'who calls me' and found I'm not alone.
Major rant anyway. Sorry, needed to vent somewhere. Surely there are others on here experiencing this.

Doesn't that make it expensive for friends and family to call you?PlutoinCapricorn wrote: »One of the best things I ever did was cancel my landline and move to a cheap PAYG mobile and mobile broadband.0 -
I really detest using the phone, so tell people to use email. Otherwise I tell them to send a text.
I am not a chatter or gossiper, and prefer email because you get things in writing.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

Used to get them all the time but have subscribed to BT choose to refuse http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/8500/~/how-to-use-choose-to-refuse
Once you have barred the nusance number, BT answer it with ...the caller is not accepting calls from this number then it hangs up on them
Worth it for a few quid a month. You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0 -

To be honest, we hardly ever use the home phone to call. Me and sis use our mobiles as we have contracts with minutes we can use at no extra charge and Mum rarely has to make a call.
Unfortunately we do still get the odd call from friends and family as, like the other poster said, calling a mobile can be expensive.0
