Sainsburys mixing non-offers in amongst offers.

Last week I decided to take advantage of Sainsburys offer of 3 packs of meat for £10. I chose a pack of casserole steak and 2 packs of basted turkey. I checked the label underneath to make sure I picked the right things. When I got home, I noticed I had been charged full price.

Today, I asked one of the girls to check it out. Apparently, the turkey is on offer 3 for £10 but you have to choose 3 packs of turkey as it is a separate offer to the other mixed meats and fish at 3 for £10. Even though it is right in the middle of the other meats.

It's not the first time I have seen non-offers right in amongst the offers. Just thought I'd let you all know to be extra careful.

Many thanks - I know that tesco were doing the same thing a while back but I'll keep a lookout when in Sainsbury now.

Really I thought you could mix and match any of the meat and fish on the 3 for £10 offer.

OP is the Turkey a " Roast Butter Basted Turkey" ?

I go on the theory if the product doesnt say 3 for £10 then its not included although that idea isn't perfect.

Yes, it is the butter basted one. It didn't actually have a sticker on the packet but the shelf price did say 3 for £10. The shop assistant told me the turkey was a different offer (3 packs of butter basted turkey for £10) even though it was right in the middle of all the other meats.

Yes I can see how it would confuse you, thanks for pointing it out, always thought it was part of the offer, maybe it was in the past, well it was before xmas as I bought 1 with some 2 chicken breast joints and the offer was took off.
  • I've been caught like this before when they had chilled quiches on offer and had non offer quiches mixed in with the ones that were on offer.:mad::mad:

I've emailed Tesco to complain about this. Still waiting to hear from them but I'm sure they will say it is up to the customer to check what they are buying.

I'm sure they are probably just laughing about you contacting Tesco regarding an offer in Sainsburys.

You need to be shopping savvy. I was in Morrisons today. An offer on the end of a shelf showed sweetex 600 for £1.22. On closer inspection only one tray had 600s, the other trays were 800s, (a completely different price, So i moved them all along so the separation could easily be seen. The quantities of many every day products have been reduced from 4/5 packs of chocolate bars now in thtrees to the quantities in soups/beans etc. Comfort concentrate was 42 washes for around £2.00 now 34 washes for £2.00 Washing powders that held 25 washes now down to 23.... So as Martin says on here that Bankers are not Bankers they are Bank Robbers, I would definitely say the same applies to supermarkets 10 fold. Large milk containers used to contain 4 pints Now its 2 ltrs 1 ltr = 1 3/4 pts. so your getting less for the same price. Andrex used to sell toilet rolls at
240 sheets per roll, now 200 sheets OFTEN classed as a special offer. Cushelle only give 180 sheets per roll... So READ THE LABELS It's YOUR money they are taking

It really annoys both colleagues and customers that not every flavour etc is part of the same offer.

Customers have to waste time queuing up at customer services to get the difference refunded and if the refund is made back on their payment card, a couple of days to use that money.

Colleagues have to waste time taking the customer to the shelf/chiller where the products are and explain what is/isn't on the offer. Then refunding the difference. If its a chilled or frozen product, then taking it back to the chiller or freezer.

Supermarkets will make more money if all of the flavours etc are on the same offer.

Also what happens in the case of fresh items when some of the flavours are on offer and some aren't - take NCG soups as this is one line which in Sainsburys some of them are on offer - customers will only purchase the offer flavours and not bother with the others. The non offer lines then get reduced.

Its called deviance, and all the supermarkets are equally as guilty, I get enjoyment pointing it out to less savvy people , who in turn tell others......... 2 fingers to supermarkets IMO
