Competition Win but no Comms

Hi everyone, I'm new to this so apologies if this is in the wrong place.

I was lucky enough to win a BoxPark Advent Competition prize (a clothing 'makeover' and free outfit) with a 3rd party store, located in BoxPark complex. I received a winner's email from BoxPark's PR & Marketing Assistant on 23rd Dec which basically said "Congrats and the 3rd party will be in touch in New Year to sort your prize. Any Qs please ask".

I responded immediately to say thanks and that's the last I've heard from anyone. I emailed the Boxpark lady on 2nd Jan to ask for the exact details of the prize (value of outfit, dates, etc?) to which I had no reply. I then telephoned her a few days later to say that I hadn't heard from the 3rd party and she said she'd chase them. I then emailed again on 10th Jan to apologise for pestering but that I hadn't heard from the 3rd party and was happy to follow up directly if she passed on the contact details and again I've had no response. I'm getting worried that perhaps this isn't a real prize?

Does anyone have any advice on what I should do? I have looked online to try and find the name of her manager to escalate but haven't found anything. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you

  • If you are in London, you could pay a visit to Boxpark as the marketing office is there but the prize is actually supplied by the company as Boxpark just make arrangements with their vendors. The Boxpark shops will not necessarily know about the competition as if it is a chain, it would be arranged with their head office marketing/PR people.

Alsproject Thank you but unfortunately I'm not in London and am 7 months pregnant so don't fancy the trek on the off chance. I realise that the shop of the prize provider might not know anything about it so think I'll need to deal with Boxpark. Just stuck for how best to manage this
  • I won the DC Shoes one and they contacted me after New Year to say they were going to be away until February where they will arrange a date and time for me to see them. Hope it all goes well for you

Thanks again. Glad that someone else has won though and it appears to be genuine. Enjoy!
  • Normally up to 28 days wait is quite common so I would wait for then and start to chase up again if you still have not heard anything - sometimes it seems to take a while............. especially if it something really nice and you are excited about it! every day then seems like an eternity

Well done on the win - let us know how you get on please :D

Thank you worriedmum. That's a good idea. I'll give them a couple more weeks before I start chasing again. Yes, I think it's a great prize and you're 100% right that I'm looking forward to it as it's actually a present for my hubby (as it's a men's outfitter). Due to unexpected redundancy & my pregnancy we didn't have a bountiful Xmas so it was even more of a boon to win something

Thanks redbull. I've found that a great tactic for when I'm really miffed about something but I tend to avoid conflict and am concerned this might annoy them. Although if I'm careful about phrasing it should be ok...
