George Foreman grill

In my experience they all lose their non-stick eventually but the proper George Foreman ones tend to last a bit longer. I wouldnt pay a huge amount of money for one but they are handy. I find that they do tend to dry things out and its easy to overcook things so you need to keep a careful eye on it.
And yes, get as big as possible, unless storage is an issue.0 -

Mine does not have removeable plates and I've never had a problem cleaning it. Switch it on for a minute then switch off again and wipe down. Easy.OH invested in one with removable plates and it is sooooooo much easier to clean than mine with the fixed plates - now we're living togther mine never comes out of the cooker. Keep saying it'll go on freecycle but, you know, one day...
For me it would depend on the difference in price - if the removable plates are just a wee bit more expensive then its worth investing. If they cost a fortune more, don't bother.
Oh, and OH had a not-George-grill before the removable plates one and the non-stick didn't last too long on it. That became a REAL p.i.t.a to clean with both fixed plates and stick-rather-than-non-stick surface. Certainly worth looking at if they are only £14.50 but something to bear in mind!
I found that it depends on what I cook, but some stuff sticks to the plates and is really hard to clean, even using boiling water straight after cooking. But it could be the age of the grill.
I would definitely recommend one, it's a good way to cook something really tasty and healthy. Chicken breasts, meat kebabs, burgers, grilled peppers, panini are some of our favourites!
PS the ones with variable hinges are very handy, you can use them to do cheese on toast etc as the top doesn't touch the food (use a bit like the old fashion cooker grills, except that the bottom is also hot).
The ones with removable plates seem much more expensive, add £50 for removable plates??? Anyway here's the type I mean, £29.99 4 portions, lockable hinges, fixed plates
