I am looking at purchasing George Foreman grill, but I cannot decide which one.
Are the removable plates necessary? Does it cause massive issue if you choose one without it?
There is 2 of us, occassionaly 3 of us for diner. Do I need the 4 portion one, as some reviews say that the sizing is very small and people cannot see how can you get 4 steaks on 4 portion one..
Thanks

Hi, get the biggest one you can afford. If cooking for 3 recommend buying one for 4 portions. Also get one with removable plates. So much easier to clean. Mine go in the dishwasher with no problems. In deep...0

I have an old one where you can't remove the plates. It is still easy to clean, I literally just wipe it down after cooking and the fats come straight off.
We got it as a gift, and it has to be one of the best gifts we've ever had, cooks meat and veg quickly and cheaply, no need to heat up the hob or oven.
I would get the largest size you can afford, and think about how much space you have in the kitchen. You can play about cooking more things on the larger one...e.g you could do chicken breasts with grilled veg and chuck it all on at the same time.0 -

Mine does not have removeable plates and I've never had a problem cleaning it. Switch it on for a minute then switch off again and wipe down. Easy.0 -

Thanks guys, I have my eye on one with removable plates but it is £81. Annoyed really, as when I looked first time it was just over £50 and then gone up in price!!
I will check Aldi thanks. After your comments about veg I think I definitely need a big one.0 -
OH invested in one with removable plates and it is sooooooo much easier to clean than mine with the fixed plates - now we're living togther mine never comes out of the cooker. Keep saying it'll go on freecycle but, you know, one day...
For me it would depend on the difference in price - if the removable plates are just a wee bit more expensive then its worth investing. If they cost a fortune more, don't bother.
Oh, and OH had a not-George-grill before the removable plates one and the non-stick didn't last too long on it. That became a REAL p.i.t.a to clean with both fixed plates and stick-rather-than-non-stick surface. Certainly worth looking at if they are only £14.50 but something to bear in mind!0 -
Still to use mine and it is smallish but then again there is only me so it will probably be big enough. Think mine was around £21 at Argos."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Noticed in my Tesco this evening they also have a 5 portion George Foreman reduced to £30, only the one though.
Also Tesco's own slow cooker for £12.Its not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama0 -
I have a large George Foreman grill - its an older one but its a doddle to clean! just wipe it with a wet sponge and its done!
Ive done meat, fish, veg etc on it - the only thing I will say is that cheap sausages will put you off sausages! the gunk that comes out of them is horrible! good sausages however are gorgeous!
oh and its not just for savouries - grilled bananas, pineapple slices - they are lovely too! I love my George!0
