We used our fixed plate one loads but eventually the nonstick went at which point i reallyregretted not getting the removable plates. We replaced it with a removable plate one and it's much easier. If something gets stuck i can just soak it overnight with bio washing powder. And if the nonstick does ever wear out i'll be able to replace the plates rather than ditch the whole thing20*25 for 2025: 489 / 5000

I have one with non-removable plates. After using, while it's still hot, fill a sponge with water and squeeze out over the grill (make sure the tray is near-empty). The water will wash away the majority of the fat straight away, but repeat a couple of times if needed. Then wipe down with either a sponge (saved for the purpose) or bit of kitchen roll. If you keep on top of this it's really easy to clean - slack a bit and you can salvage it by reheating the grill and using the same method.
One really good tip I saw online though was to cover the grill with tinfoil - no need to clean the grill itself, ever!

Am I the only one who thinks these grills are a bit pants? - I have non removable plates on mine, it's a faff to clean, you can't regulate the heat either which I don't like - just think they are quite expensive for what they are - I barely use it as I can't see it's better than grilling stuff on er a grill0

I like my GF but I have one without removable plates and I find it can be a pig to clean -depending on what's been cooked on it! Certain marinades (eg we do a soy sauce one) needs more scrubbing than just putting say plain chicken fillets on it. Also it depends on how long you leave it, I find it's easier to clean whilst still a little warm.0

After seeing my DD's Grill/Griddle GF, I decided that I had to have one as well - and both sides are fully controllable.
I clean it in the same way as krlyr and never have any problems.0 -

No its not just you I agree, I wanted one for ages and did use it a lot at first, now I find that if I am in a rush it is much quicker to grill in the conventional way lining the grill pan with cheap foil first to avoid the washing up. I don't like the fact you cant regulate the temperature either.Dont wait for your boat to come in 'Swim out and meet the bloody thing'

Hi, I put off having a GFG until just after Christmas and I am really pleased with it, it does not have removeable plates but I find it soooo easy to clean and would not like to be without one now. i had this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/George-Foreman-18891-Entertaining-Variable/dp/B008HS4HPG/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1358238288&sr=8-13 and its plenty big enough for our family of four, so far anyway. Oh and this model does have a variable temperature!!0

Don't know if mine does, I never thought about needing to change the temperature."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson
