  • Is there anything on the horizon that may knock you off track again or will you keep up the pace you are at until you are done?

Hey thanks for your kind words:)

Its funny you should mention wether anything is on the horizon, well redundancy is looming large. Expecting the 90 day notice period to kick in, in a matter of months

Plan is to continue at pace clearing the mortgage whilst I can. Come what may I'll need a lot less money going forward and if i can crack the mortgage it kind of makes me feel a bit untouchable

My current property would rent out in a heartbeat if I have to move on. Ill just have to see what pans out

So so glad I embarked on this path, Im working with a lot of stressed people at the moment who have substantial mortgages and similar uncertain job prospects

Brilliant, well done :T. Hope redundancy works out ok, at least you've put yourself in a good position.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
    :) Mortgage Balance = £0 :)

  • Wow drinkduffbeers,

    What an inspirational diary!

You're right, just posting the facts sometimes spurs you on even more!

I've subscribed and will visit when I feel like I'm getting nowhere with my MFW attempt :rotfl:

I'm excited for your final payment and mother of all holidays afterwards!

    Good luck!

    Cheers Davie G

Travel / holidays are going to be very high up on the agenda come 2015:beer:

Good luck with your own quest. I ve no regrets and love the added confidence I get from my impending MF status:T

Reccomend the diary as its really helped keep me motivated along the way. If your basically going to give a bank every penny you've got for an extended period of time, You need all the motivation you can get!

anyway there are some real kind folk on these forums and especially on this board:T

Here's me talking like I'm done allready. Still the small matter of 14k and job uncertainty, oh well back to it:money:

Bonus time so just paid an additional 2k off the mortgage, outstanding balance now down to 10k :T

Could have paid another 1k but decided to use that as a summer slush fund instead:beer:

At this rate I'm going to occur some hefty early repayment fees. Plan is to hold the balance at 10k and build up my offset savings pot to 10k. I'll just pay any interest incurred manually to keep the numbers nice and tidy

Very much on track to be mortgage free (or fully offset) at 40:T

Ill simplify my monthly summary to reflect my new offset goal
