Broadband Connection

Im being really stupid atm. A mate of mine has Wanadoo broadband that connects using SpeedTouch modem.
Do they have to Dial up everytime they want to connect even though they are using broadband that is on 24/7?

    as above, It is only on a (wireless) modem-router that it remembers your password and ID!

    and you do it through a dial up connection in network connections rather than a broadband connection?

    I'm pretty sure Wanadoo broadband is now Orange broadband.
