I think the OP should consider counselling (seriously!).
He has received several helpful replies, despite some rude (and in the case of his deleted post, highly offensive) posts.
No wonder his son never phones if all he gets is unpleasantness from his father.

If you cannot be bothered to phone your elderly relative or friend at least once a day then you simply dont deserve that person in your life. All thosealarms are for YOUR peace of mind and not the peace of mind of your elderly person.
Absolute rubbish. My OH doesn't phone, he VISITS his mother every single day at least one a day. That didn't stop her falling at 2 in the morning and breaking her leg.
I think it is indicative of the society we live in that these things should have to exist anyway and yes, Grumbler, I do have a son who never phones me.
On that matter and just in case my son is reading this; my house is now worth over £300.000 and guess who is not in my Will. Now I am going to try and attach one of those funny faces but in case I fail I think it is LOL.
Good luck with that. I know that at least in Scotland you cannot cut a spouse or offspring from your will. Well you could, but they can contest it.
I'm out as I agree with the others.0 -
Maybe your son doesn't like your bitter attitude?
Anyway.. you need to get yourself a cheap handset that you like (and is suitable). Ideally, something 'unlocked' (not tied down to a particular company)
Then, find a pay-as-you-go SIM deal that lets you infrequently top up your credit and does not expire after a short length of time.0
