- the driving license is a 10 year replacement, meaning the photograph is 9.9 years out of date anyway, but ;
I can see why they use a photocard licence as the only available like with like facial verification for a blue badge, additionally the police and other agencies such as Blue Badge Enforcement have an instant comparison with a hand held device that can cross check NI, DOB address etc for an on the spot prosecution, or a Blue Badge seizure etc. It would also instantly stop disqualified drivers and driver impersonation.
I don't understand, other than lack of good training why the nice jobsworth in 'parking services' didn't realise proof of both age and proof of address can be found on the driving licence, unless yours is an old issue and you have moved since issuing.
I think you need to read what you were replying to. You'd have saved a lot of typing if you had read it again.
They don't say that there is a legal requirement for a photocard but a requirememnt to keep your driving licence up to date.Unite Disability Champion & Equality Rep0 -
Nah the guy in parking services is definately just an idiot ... My driving licence is a nice shiny photocard with date of birth, home address matches my blue badge application and my driving licence photo is definately in date and i knew which i presented to him.
Cant wait to go and speak to him - nice for the boot to be on the other foot after they fined me for accidentally putting my blue badge upside down on display (could still see it was my badge and in date though)

HiYa pailiboo, - its a shame you chose to say that - can I gently suggest you need to read what you were replying to, I already clearly said in #22 """they are as far as I'm aware not compulsory till 2015"""
I went on to say once you have one its a legal requirement that the photo on the photocard & the licence MUST be renewed every 10 years. Fact .. .. and speaking from actual real time experience I posted my photocard renewal last Fri, it will be 10 years old on the 29th Jan 2013. For others reading this be aware that failure to surrender a photocard licence when the photo has expired is a criminal offence and the driver may face a fine of up to £1000 if the photo is not renewed, see the BBC below.
On your concern about how many of the worlds alphabet I use, this site is a huge cathedral sized supply of information for many different readers needs. For example there are few contributors to this thread. 682 have read the information of which 554 have not commented. It could be that they are completely underwhelmed by what people have written and are bored or equally it could be that many have taken any of many different bits of information in the thread which they find particularly useful. Essentially there's a menu of different snippets of differing useful information that each individual will in some way benefit from. We wouldn't want to deny others access to that information, would we ? particularly those two million poor souls who are not aware of the requirement. Since 2010 some 734,000 drivers have been caught driving with an out-of-date licence and have paid out £41mi££ion in fines, averaging around £56 a time - if using too many of the worlds alphabet in warning others to avoid trouble bothers you - please forgive me !

I didn't want readers to believe that existing BB holders [without further assessment] who are entitled to 'fast track' was the same as with further assessment applicants. That would frighten, frustrate and concern existing BB holders unnecessarily.0 -
Much as I agree with what should be happening for existing blue badge holders it seems in practice as per my experience is different. Hope no one else has to go through the problems i have had will update you once i can actually get back up to the parking services deptSpelling courtesy of the whims of auto correct...

Hi Richie ,i dont mean to put you to any trouble, but do you have links etc where i can double check the below for my own records.
So i can advise the many people who do not use a PC.
Thank You.
NOTE : To all current BB holders - don't be concerned with what is being perpetrated here. You will not be "put to unnecessary trouble with multiple ID requirements", the only additional requirement is your NI number.Child of a Fighting Race.0 -
I hope when i renew at my one stop shop they except my BB as photo evidence.
I no longer drive (my wife who is a nurse does) and dont have passport.
I'M sure i had to give my NI number when i last renewed...Maybe i'm wrong.Child of a Fighting Race.0 -

No trouble at all my friend, most of it is in this thread already. The whole point of my input is that existing Blue Badge holders only need to supply one extra bit of information more than they did last year.
If you are concerned tell me your location [not personal details, just your local authority] and I'll look at their - this years requirements for you, and make sure they are not over zealous with their requirements. I'll also give you links so that when your time comes to renew you'll know where to do it and what to have ready in advance so that you can avoid problems or delays.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion.
