Strange Porting Issue to giffgaff?

On Monday I ported my number from ASDA (Vodafone) to giffgaff. All appeared to go OK, but yesterday I realised that I could not receive calls or texts from Vodafone subscribers. When they try to ring me, they get a message 'number not in use', and texts never arrive.
I can ring out and text all networks, including Voda, without any problem.
I've reported this to giffgaff and am awaiting a response, but has anyone experienced this issue before, and if so how was it resolved please? I'm assuming that something has gone wrong in the porting process and Voda no longer recognises the number as valid for outgoing calls?
Some people have suggested that this should clear itself in a few days, but as it's been 5 working days now, I'm not convinced.

  • This issue unfortunately not going to clear itself, it's often close by the wrong boxes being ticked when the port was booked in. The only people who will be able to fix this is GiffGaff, they are the ones with responsibility to fix the issue.

Thanks. I realise that, and have already reported it to giffgaf, who advise that it is possibly a 'split port' issue. Have never come across this term before, has anyone else?

Update: issue was sorted by giffgaff in one working day. And I received a £5 goodwill top up.
Quite impressed by their customer service, given that there is no phone support.

Yep, I had this too, and it is not uncommon. I also got a £5 top up - then O2 fell over nationally. I was sort to leave Asda as their CS on the phone was superb.

I agree, ASDA were supremely efficient, even down to supplying my PAC when left. I received it by text before I'd even finished speaking to their CS!
The problem with ASDA is that their PAYG rates are no longer as competitive, and the tariffs have not been updated to take account of the much wider use of smartphones, and the consequent requirement for decent data packages. If they addressed this, I'd move back in a shot.

Ditto - that's the only reason I left too. Data is uncompetitive, and until they do something about this, it will continue to languish. I didn't even mind the texts/calls costs going up from 8p as I was not making much use of it but data was really taking over.

With all ASDA's now offering free WIFI in store, you would have thought they might have noticed!
