Thank you for the offer.

I do now have a letter from SAGA confirming that my mother has been erased from one datatbase. She is still included on a second database so, if they buy any mailing lists, they can ensure that my mother is removed from those lists.

I feel fairly confident that a satisfactory has now been reached - just wish they got it right first time though!

Write and tell them that in accordance with section 11 of the Data Protection Act 1998 you require SAGA as a Data Controller, defined in the Act, to cease to use your personal data for the purposes of direct marketing.

Send your letter to someone senior e.g. Andrew Goodsell is Group Chief Executive. Peter Bettley is Head of Group PR - he could be a good one to try as he wouldn't want SAGA's reputation damaged

Get Proof of Posting for free or send Recorded Delivery for about 70p extra.

Include the words "Section 11 of Data Protection Act 1998". This section specifically applies to unwanted direct marketing and gives you (and all of us) the right in law to have it stopped.
