    How about:
    Volkswagen Passat 1.9 TDi (105bhp) S Saloon 4dr 1896cc Met (NEW) 3+35 £270.99 + VAT (20K miles per year).

Not too bad, and a nice car. This is non maintained.

I take it this is from Ling? Her prices seem very keen!

Unfortunately I'm stuck with Arval and Leaseplan

You're looking at more like £400 for 60k and maintenance for that type of car - and thats before you've added the extras.

These contract hire deals do favour the more upmarket cars because of their strong residual values. For example, my allowance of £500 will get me a BMW 320D but would struggle to find a decent Vectra or anything french for that matter.

VW and Seats are a good bet.

Some employers let you add to the allowance if you want a better car.

Lings are offering 3 yr / 60K A3 Sportback 1.9 Tdi for £262+VAT no maintenance though

    The OP needs maintenance.
As an example, on my lists from Marshall Leasing, covering the £400 to £550 gross monthly cost, a VW Passat 1.9TDI in SE trim is £308.70.
By the time you add on maintenance and VAT the cost rises to £431.33.
Any extras you specify will also push up the lease cost and P11D value.
  • Thanks for all the help guys. I've worked out (I think) that if I top up my allowance myself by about £20 or £30 a month I can get either a Leon 1.9 TDI Stylance or a Focus 1.8 TDCI Titanium.
  • What's not appeared on this thread is HOW you are buying the car: is this a cash allowance and you have to arrange the deal yourself (the car and the finance), or is your company making the purchase on your behalf through a funder? I suspect it may be the latter as you seem to need a maintenance deal built in.

The answer to this will dictate what you can choose from - as if your company are going down the route of their own funder, you'll have to go with their prices and what they can fit into your budget.

However, if you are using a cash allowance paid into your salary then you can select a funder and dealer yourself...they can be seperate so you can juggle the best deal. Contact us direct if you want examples....but don't if your company are arranging it as you're simply stuck with their choice of funder's deal.
