Recommend me a new company car

Options
As above really, have a budget in the region of £275 per month (exc VAT) with no other restrictions from the company I work for (as if that wasn't a bit enough restriction!).

Personally, I'd want something with 5 doors and a diesel - other than that I'm open to suggestions.

I've been looking at the Fabia 1.9TDI vRS, Focus 1.8 TDCI (although not sure how decent a spec I could get within my budget) and a Leon / Ibiza 1.9TDI (again not sure on the specs within my budget).

I drive a Golf at the moment that I inherited and its a good drive but very plastic inside and a bit basic!

Thanks all :D

What you can get for your price is going to depend on annual mileage & whether or not you have to have maintenance etc.

Sorry, should have indicated that this price is based on a standard 3 year / 60k miles lease with maintenance included.

Contact a contract hire company (or ask your company to) and ask for a ratebook with the necessary criteria. You can then see what's in yor price range.

Fabia would be ok (I have one - great car).

Also check how much you'll pay in tax of course.

Looks like you might get an Audi A3 1.9 TDI sportback for that sort of money per month. Bit like the golf, but better interior

You're looking at more like £400 for 60k and maintenance for that type of car - and thats before you've added the extras.

These contract hire deals do favour the more upmarket cars because of their strong residual values. For example, my allowance of £500 will get me a BMW 320D but would struggle to find a decent Vectra or anything french for that matter.

VW and Seats are a good bet.

Some employers let you add to the allowance if you want a better car.

I've noticed this whilst searching through the listings in the back of What Car? It gives prices from HSBC for 3 year / 60K miles with maintenance leases.

Does anyone have a any comparison to see if the numbers they're quoting are reliable / achievable with others? I think we use Leaseplan and Arval.

Remember that any car and/or running would be laible to income tax if funded by your employer!

Does it have to be a three contract?
Can you buy pre-owned but qualifying vehicle?

Lots of six to twelve month old cars out there at very reasonable prices although benefit is related to list price. It is possible to get a better spec car for less money.

    How about:
    Volkswagen Passat 1.9 TDi (105bhp) S Saloon 4dr 1896cc Met (NEW) 3+35 £270.99 + VAT (20K miles per year).

Not too bad, and a nice car. This is non maintained.
