If they have made a complaint against you (and that is a big if), you have no right to the reference number.
On the information given, no one can say whether you should expect a visit from the police.0 -
The Ref number just means that plod have logged the complaint.Don't grow up. Its a trap!
Peace, love and labradors!0 -
I suggest rather than running away to another provider and racking up massive bills, you take your head out of the sand and work with them.
I work for a telecoms company and 'spend and run' is frowned upon, they can terminate the moving of your line and cause all kinds of issues including not giving you your old number back etc.0 -
Sounds to me there's a lot more to this story than the OP cares to admit.0

They seem to be quite pushy, And wont stop calling me, Well its the same guy.
Besides is a crime reference number relevant to anything, it doesn't necessarily mean OP will get into trouble does it? Just that they have opened inquiries into a reported crime right?
Also name and shame who are they?0 -
Have you ever made a payment to them? Or signed up, not paid a penny and now leaving?
Even if they have informed the police then simply telling them 'the bill was significantly more than expected and I cannot afford it. I'm going to contact CAB for advice' will probably see their investigation concluded as a civil matter.
As for harassment... Get real. Don't make out they are the bad guys and you are completely innocent over this whole thing. What offers of payment have you made?0 -

I think you have the wrong idea what a Crime Reference Number is. It's not something that's submitted or "against" you - as you put it earlier
When someone reports a crime to the police it will first be given a log or incident number ( depending on the nature ) after a preliminary investigation or evaluation AND of the police are confident there is a crime to investigate then a Crime Reference Number will be generated.
You may or may not be a suspect in the crime (we have no way of knowing) and may or may not be contacted.
To be honest with you, there isn't enough in your posts for anyone to advise you. What is posted is muddled.
My advice would be to write down ,in date order, exactly what has happened. Take this and all paperwork, correspondence and emails to the CAB and ask to be referred for legal help.0 -

And because im moving provider, They want me to pay the bill right away and want me to also a pay a £600 termination fee for my 2 lines.

The title is, i was informed by a third party person that the telecoms company have a crime reference against me. The telecoms company didn't tell me but they have since admitted they have.
So im wondering should i expect a visit from the police.....?
This makes no sense.
It also makes me wonder if its a scam to get money from the OP.
So OP.
Do you use premium rate no's
Do you use the telco that is calling?
If your telco had passed this to a 3rd party collection co. Your tel would have been blocked 1st.
Can't really see them getting the police involved.
So come on tell the whole truth and not skirt round the issue giving stuff that makes no sense, other than a load of rubbish.Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -
Who owns the premium rate numbers you are calling? Telcos are rightly wary of people who run up bills and not pay. But we have been give too little information on this.0
