Hello, Need some advice, On friday i was informed my telecoms company for my landline, that they have opend a fraud investigation against me even though no fraud was been committed.
Should i expect a visit from the police, Supposen I did owe them money i didn't think it would be a police issue.

Not sure if telecoms companies subscribe to it, but financial services companies tend to add you to a database which other financial services companies can and do check.0

Fraud can be both a criminal and a civil matter. It would be up to the telecoms company as to whether they wish to involve the police.
Care to elaborate on why they are investigating you, and what relevance your title has?0 -
Because there seems to be quite a large amount of calls outstanding to premium rate numbers.
And because im moving provider, They want me to pay the bill right away and want me to also a pay a £600 termination fee for my 2 lines.
They seem to be quite pushy, And wont stop calling me, Well its the same guy.
The title is, i was informed by a third party person that the telecoms company have a crime reference against me. The telecoms company didn't tell me but they have since admitted they have.
So im wondering should i expect a visit from the police.....?0 -
It should just be a civil matter, however if they believe you used the service with no intention of paying for it then it would be criminal. They would need to prove your intent was to defraud them which might not be easy. Your past history, if you have done this before might strengthen the case against you.
Isn't it the case that they won't release you if you don't pay? This used to happen.0 -

Well there allowing the transfer to go ahead, I would have thought they might block me.
Im just annoyed what is being discussed behind my back when i know there is something, What if i was to contact my locla police station and ask???
Good mind to take them to court for harrasment.0 -
OP, excuse me for asking, but why don't you pay your bill?
Are you disputing the amount owed?
Is the termination fee not detailed in your contract?0 -

What exactly has the telecoms company said - have they said they have reported you ("have a crime reference" or not? Your posts don't make much sense.
In what way are they harassing you, apart from chasing you for the money you owe?
Why is the termination fee so high?0 -

They want me to pay it like right this second, I dont have the money right this second.
I would pay it if they gave me time, But i think them going to the police is abit drastic, its not like i owe them 10k or something.0 -
Never ever heard of a company reporting non payment of a bill to the police....got to be alot more to this story.0

Would that also have the effect or reducing the termination fee due?
You don't appear to be disputing the amount owed?0
