I gave bad feed back to someone once on Ebay as the item was not sent & they did not respond to my messages to pay me back so opened a paypal dispute & got the money back. I left negative feed back & it's still there, just checked & it say's this seller is no longer a ebay member.

Buyers can leave negatives for sellers, but sellers can only leave positive feedback for buyers, so for a buyer-only account it will have 100% feedback

No you have missread what was posted. A seller can not leave bad neg for the buyer, so if someone only buys then they will have 100% feedback

  • Sellers used to be able to leave negative feedback for buyers. It was changed to prevent sellers negging a buyer as revenge for negative feedback.

Whoever you sell it to, whether ebay or face to face - take a note (ideally a photo) of the IMEI number of the phone.

    See HERE

If the buyer then comes back with the phone and claims it's not working and wants a refund, then you can see if it the actual one you sold in the first place.

One of the big scams is phone swapping - someone buys a phone, the seller posts it off, then the buyer claims a refund for item not working but returns a completely different and faulty phone, eBay/Paypal in their infinite wisdom usually pay out because they believe the buyer.

If you do sell through eBay and buyer collects and pays cash, get them to sign a receipt of goods and keep a copy for yourself.

A bit overkill I know - but you need to protect yourself in these instances.
