    Oh my goodness! Go!
  • My friend is lovely, and has a huge house so somewhere to stay wouldn't be a problem. I'm sure she'd be ecstactic that i was going out.

It's the weighing up of the cost + paying it off over the next year/s or so that's making me apprehensive. And yes, DD will be making her own path through life soon, so i feel this is a last opportunity sort of

No chance of Uni, but sorting her life out, yes

GO!! Life rushes by whilst you are worrying about whether or not you can afford it - in early 2010 OH and I decided not to join No 2 son and his family on holiday in Florida (where they were meeting up with DD and her family) because we'd have had to use the credit card fand not be able to repay in full for a few months. By the time our cash was free, OH had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer - and we coudn't go at all :(

He was still fighting fit and well when they went - it was only later in the year that he was taken ill.

That's my only regret - we should have gone, but decided the money was worth more - it wasn't :(

    I've been Money Tipped!
Another one saying Go too. Life is too short and if you feel the debt will be managable, then do it. Seem to recall Martin pointing people to some good 0% credit cards.

And if you are going to go, decide quickly as the sooner you book, the cheaper the tickets. If you are looking at getting into debt for it though, have to say premium economy, whilst nice, is probably not the best choice for 2014

Yes go! sell the caravan, sell all your scrap gold, sell everything except your bed! save like mad and go and have a wonderful time! it may be the only chance you get - and if DD could go along too, how marvellous!
  • You've had an almost 100 percent go for it response. You just have to decide if the caravan is a fair trade in for a holiday in Oz, sounds as if you've made up your mind but you need that little push....

£786 return is the cheapest I found (tho with only a quick look) for June to Darwin -so fares say £1572 (less £180 in storage fees for the caravan :) ) and no hotel to find. I think you'd be crazy not to go ......although you may find your daughter falls in love with the place too and does the Oz thing for a gap year.

I suspect you'd regret it if you didn't go now you've had the idea planted.

Sell the caravan and the accessories.
Sell your old gold to Hattongardenmetals.com
Sell your old CD's and DVD's to music magpie
    Do a bootfair.

I am sure you can find the money if you need to.

Go. To hell with everything else! You CAN afford it, after selling your caravan, which you don't seem to like much anyway. The memories you'll have from spending that time with your old friend, and you daughter, will be priceless. Your daughter is at that age when this may just be the last opportunity you have spend so long on a holiday together!

    Go. Please! :)
