DFS credit

Hi,
What's the likelyhood of being accepted for credit with DFS considering I have a poor credit history ( I still have a default showing on my credit file from previous financial problems)
In the last 2 years have been accepted for a Next account (£2,000 credit limit) a vanquis card (£1,000 limit) & a fashion world account (£1,000) limit. I also have 2 phone contracts (mine and my daughters). All these accounts are and have always been kept up to date.

Kind regards

Meg

its creation finance, so depends how old default and if settled
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

The use several different finance houses. Its possible the first one they approach may decline you but in my experience they do try others.

    Hi Chanz4

    Kind regards

Be careful with this as a friend of mine went to DFS ordered a suite, was told in store finance was approved and left a deposit and signed. She then got a phone call stating credit had been declined and how was she going to pay the balance? When she tried to cancel they said she had signed, therefore the contract was binding and she then had to borrow the balance from family.

I have read previous threads relating to this problem thats why I'm cautious about applying with my not so perfect credit history. I did however read somewhere that you should write "subject to contract" on order form.

    Kind regards

what you sign is a contract to buy

Hi...What if you order over the phone and say "that your purchase is subject to being accepted for credit".... You will have signed for nothing and it will have been recorded?
    Kind regards

I don't think you can order from DFS on a credit relationship over the phone, but if you do mange it, I would imagine it would be subject to the distance trading act.

I spoke to a rep on Friday evening via their live chat on their website... I asked them if they were able to send me samples (answer was yes) I asked if I could order the sofa I wanted and aply for their 4 years interest free creditoption over the phone (again the answer was yes).

    Kind regards

  • I have similiar credit to yours if not worse, and I have dfs sofa credit. I did have to send additional information because I had moved into a new address. Hope this helps.
