Which supermarkets actually make fresh bread instore? Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury's, Morrisons and Marks & Spencer all buy in part baked stuff from CSM then warm it up instore.

Some of those stores do bake some items from scratch in selected stores. It normally depends how large the store's bakery is.

don't think so, most big ones have a baker instore making fresh bread daily

What they have is a small area that is shielded from view at the back of the store to make you think it is a bakery.

They buy in Part baked - The same as the stuff you can buy instore.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

If you're outside of Cornwall and buying Cornish Pasties from branded shops (e.g. Cornish Bakehouse, West Cornwall Pasty Company, etc) - those were all made/frozen in Cornwall and shipped to the franchisees. They're not made on site, just baked on site.

  • My local Lidl has a bakery. It always smells nice & looks good & there are good offers but it drys out very quickly so not much good if you're not going to eat it all on the day of purchase.

Our local Lidl has a lovely variety of bread, croissants, doughnuts, pretzels etc - all very yummy and reasonably priced. The only thing I dont like - is using the tongs as they dont look clean - its not ideal, but I pick up the things I want to buy with my fingers instead!

Pity they cant provide some cheap plastic gloves if they cant be bothered to make sure the tongs are cleaned regularly.
