Ooh, I didn't know Lidl had instore bakeries! Hope our local gets one in, nowt nicer than fresh baked bread!
Public appearances now involve clothing. Sorry, it's part of my bail conditions.

    Never seen the point
  • They would probably do even better if they offered the full range of par baked bakery items they warm up instore for sale as they are. That way it wouldn't matter which day people went shopping they could heat them up themselves as & when they wanted them so they always tasted fresh instead of having a product which only keeps for a couple of days.

Works well both in Europe and the smaller branch near me.

I thought you didn't do bread, Edwardia?

I don't do bread myself, no V4M4meplease. Am married to a breadaholic and my mother is too so I'm always surrounded by the stuff and have to buy it.

I spotted the bit in The Grocer and thought it would be of interest to others.
  • Lidl in Drenewydd has had a large bakery section in place for a week or so resulting in everything being moved around so shoppers can't find the items they are looking for.
Freshly warmed up par baked bakery products will be available from the 25th of Feb once the staff have finished their training on how to place an item in an oven & take it out a few minutes later once it is warmed through.

Went to a Lidl in a town 15 miles from me yesterday and they had the bakery section in.

There is one 4 miles from here but the roads to get to it a very PITA.

The smell of baking bread will make people hungry then they'll buy more ;)
  • Our Lidl is going to be expanded and renovated later this year and then we get one of these too :)

They supposedly refurbished our Lidl last year (well they closed it for 2 days for 'improvements'). I thought they would put a bakery in but all they seemed to do was move the checkouts a bit.
